one of the most traditional and classy pubs. they serve food for free throughout the day (mostly sandwiches, which are really good). rather expensive beer is more costly than other places. this is a typical place where dubliner hang out after work in their suits and enjoy a relaxing beverage.

One of the oldest and most famous pubs in the city. A good meeting spot. The decor has been kept the same for many years although it's a shame they brought in tvs sometime in the last few years.

Good, quality Dublin pub. I've never seen a TV on or music playing. It's just a bunch of people having the chats in really nice surroundings. Highly recommended for a proper Dublin pub experience.

OK, this isn't the most up-to-date review, but I can confirm that the TVs aren't a new addition. I was watching the rugby autumn internationals there in 1997, when I was living over the road. Admittedly they were only on for the rugby and final score on a saturday. Back then it was an awesome pub, with a proper welcome. They were most sympathetic to me when I came back to town after 3 weeks away at Christmas, and couldn't remember the number to get into my apartment block. They even lent me a couple of pints while I tried to remember it, sitting with my suitcase. Happy days :-)

Great place for a pint and a read of your paper during the day but equally engaging by evening surrounded by the warming hum of conversation generously offered up by loyal and new patrons.

The Long Hall is a beautiful pub. There's brass fittings behind the bar, old Gin advertisements on the wall and the one thing that really marks out an old-fashioned pub out; carpet. A seat by the window is perfect for watching the world go by, but you can always hide down the back either. The toilets are probably the only low point, but who cares about that really? The clientele seem pretty varied. The last time I was there I ended up embroiled in a family gathering from Mayo. Good times.
