The nigiri and rolls were fantastic. The miso was very good, but could have used more tofu and chives. The gyoza (pot stickers) were soggy and had a slimy texture on the outside and everyone at the table agreed that the fried version we are all used to us much better than this boiled (or so we assumed) version. Just skip the gyoza and get the sushi. My vegetarian friend was pleased with the selection she was given to work with, as well.

Really pricey, but very worth it. Especially if you can charge the meal to the business card : ) Super classy atmosphere and delicious food!

Good food. Wonderful presentation. Right in the heart of downtown... but too pricey for just my typical lunch.

BEST sushi restaurant in Utah hands down! Menu is constantly changing based on fish that are flown in daily. Their toro and uni are great and even the Sebastian roll "California roll" is made with real crabmeat. The spicy green lip mussels are also a must try! Atmosphere is lively yet romantic. It's perfect for a "date night" with your significant other or for enjoying some beer and sake with friends. Not the norm for Salt Lake restaurants! Be sure to get there before they open though because there will be a long wait!

I went to this restaurant on a Saturday night, expecting there to be a wait time, but was not expecting an hour and a half wait for some above average sushi. The price was to high for the quality of the sushi nor the wait. I will probably never return because of my experience.

Food is fine, atmosphere is great, sushi chef and servers are fantastic. The hosts are ridiculous. This is a busy place, very popular, as you can probably tell from the multiple, glowing reviews. I expect when I come here with my wife that we will have to wait at least 15 min, maybe 30, since you can't make a reservation for just two people. We recently went on a Tuesday evening and were told it would be a 45 minute wait for first available seating. They asked if we wanted bar seating or a table and we said whatever opened up first, noticing there was already available bar seating. We then sat and watched as three or four couples came in and were immediately seated at the bar. We heard the conversations and they had not been waiting any period of time, they were just bumped ahead of us. Not wanting to be rude, I spoke to one of the hostesses and reminded her that we were okay sitting at the bar, to which she dismissively replied that she was aware and that we were still looking at a 30 min wait. A few more groups were then seated at tables that had opened up, groups that had arrived well after we had put in our seating request. I don't know why, but we were being blatantly ignored. When the hostess told a couple that had just walked in that there was available bar seating, we asked to be seated, as we had been waiting longer. The hostess told us that the couple had been there before us, which was a straight up lie. The couple graciously allowed us to be seated and the hostess tried to cover by saying that we had been put down for a table and none had opened yet. Another lie. I feel like I have fairly low standards for good service. Treat me with respect as a paying customer and I will tip you more than a fair amount, but after this experience with the hostesses at Takashi, I have no desire to go back, despite their excellence in other areas. If you make a mistake, own up to it, apologize, and make it right. That's basic customer service.

I'd never really tried sushi before but I went with a group for my brother's bachelor party. We got a variety and split everything. I really enjoyed it! I loved the different flavors and everything tasted fresh. Even more, I ran a marathon the next morning (Morgan Valley Marathon) and felt great!
