Food is fine, atmosphere is great, sushi chef and servers are fantastic. The hosts are ridiculous. This is a busy place, very popular, as you can probably tell from the multiple, glowing reviews. I expect when I come here with my wife that we will have to wait at least 15 min, maybe 30, since you can't make a reservation for just two people. We recently went on a Tuesday evening and were told it would be a 45 minute wait for first available seating. They asked if we wanted bar seating or a table and we said whatever opened up first, noticing there was already available bar seating. We then sat and watched as three or four couples came in and were immediately seated at the bar. We heard the conversations and they had not been waiting any period of time, they were just bumped ahead of us. Not wanting to be rude, I spoke to one of the hostesses and reminded her that we were okay sitting at the bar, to which she dismissively replied that she was aware and that we were still looking at a 30 min wait. A few more groups were then seated at tables that had opened up, groups that had arrived well after we had put in our seating request. I don't know why, but we were being blatantly ignored. When the hostess told a couple that had just walked in that there was available bar seating, we asked to be seated, as we had been waiting longer. The hostess told us that the couple had been there before us, which was a straight up lie. The couple graciously allowed us to be seated and the hostess tried to cover by saying that we had been put down for a table and none had opened yet. Another lie. I feel like I have fairly low standards for good service. Treat me with respect as a paying customer and I will tip you more than a fair amount, but after this experience with the hostesses at Takashi, I have no desire to go back, despite their excellence in other areas. If you make a mistake, own up to it, apologize, and make it right. That's basic customer service.

The sushi is even more stimulating than the awesome design of the restaurant. There are so many flavors going on in this sushi, it is really an adventure to eat here Get a reservation and get there early, this place can get very busy

This place really is great. I felt like I wasn't in the mid west for a moment but back home in New York. The waiters were great keeping the sake hot...or cold, we had both. I'm not a sushi connoisseur but I could definitely tell the difference between the freshness of the fish hear as opposed to other locations. If you're wanting to be hip, cool, or show off for someone this is a trendy place to come. You will spend double as compared to what you'll spend at other locations and if that's OK with you then I recommend it. I'd share more but I blacked out and threw up all over my waiter. It was a tip...

I've eaten here many times. Generally very good. I like takashi's very spicy rolls: TNT roll with habanero dipping sauce is my fave, but I've noticed quality of fish decline over the years. Learned my lesson. Best sushi in town is Naked Fish followed by Tsunami or Takashi or Saba. Pick 'em.

This is one of the most deluxe sushi places that I've ever been to in my life. Everything about this is great. The service is excellent. The sushi is mouth wateringly delicious. The restaurant looks very nice and is very well kept. The price is premium, too, and that's the only bad thing about this great restaurant.

Came here after a bad experience at the bar & grill next to it. It was the day after and I still had a bad experience from the grill. I came in and I will note, it was a VERY long wait. But you will understand that it is well worth the wait. Every single person in there was very kind and helpful while we waited, and had us happy before we were brought to the bar. The average price for the sushi (which all looked delicious) was great, being around $6- $8. And we were sat down right in front of the man who made our sushi. He cooked and cut with confidence, and would happily converse with you while you ate or waited. He gave great recommendations and would joke while he made your sushi. The taste of the sushi was worth every minute or dollar. Each sushi roll was fresh, and every peice of fish was shown right in front of you as he cut from it to freshly make it. He would agree to your every demand on what you wanted, and the waiters always kept you filled. I recommend this to everyone coming through here!

The best sushi ive had in salt lake thus far! It takes awhile to get a seat because they dont do reservations normally. We ended up at the bar, and i wouldnt sit anywhere else if i had the choice now. Being able to converse with the chefs while they make it right infront of you is fantastic! Plus you dont have to wait for a server to get your order, just give it directly to the chef.

Takashi hasn't shared anything with you.

People are more likely to share with you if you add them to your circles.
