Twitter has developed something called the Innovator's Patent Agreement, which is an agreement between the company and its employees that their patents won't be used in offensive lawsuits (as opposed to defensive lawsuits). The IPA is a new way to do patent assignment that keeps control in the hands of engineers and designers. It is a commitment from Twitter to our employees that patents can only be used for defensive purposes. We will not use t...

amazing...
Wonderful sand paintings by San Francisco based artist Andres Amador. Large scale beach drawings can take hours to complete, and then, when the tide comes in, this incredible art is washed away forever. Also check out: Beautiful and Creative Sand Sculptures

Amazing NBA shooting percentage graphics -- compelling even if (especially if?) you don't care at all about basketball.

We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t.

A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.

Please follow along as we share some of our ideas and stories. We’d love to hear yours, too. What would you like to see from Project Glass?

How much would you pay for a video of the goal you scored in the 7th grade?

I'd probably shell out a few bucks, but I'm pretty sure my childhood was 99.99% unfilmed.

Jonathan Barker Guitar Lessons
108 Southeast 71st Avenue, Portland, OR 97215
I'm a self-taught guitarist and have been playing off and on for about 15 years. I was referred to Jonathan by a friend and am so glad I took her advice - after just two lessons I feel like I've learned more about guitar than I have since the first year I played.

Jonathan has a wonderful, easy manner, and quickly figures out where to focus in order to get real results quickly. He was able to identify the areas where I need to work almost immediately and push me into the zone of "uncomfortable but making clear progress" -- the zone where learning happens.

I recommend him highly to anyone who wants to play better -- whether a first timer (its clear to me his approach is perfect for beginners too) or someone with some experience looking to learn some new things, Jonathan is that rare teacher that knows the subject matter inside out AND has the gift for imparting that knowledge to his students.

I look forward to many, many more insights and a-ha moments with Jonathan.
Quality Excellent

Great quote: "social networks have to develop organically and . . . the actual software itself is a tiny piece of the overall social network proposition"
Mark Zuckerberg has good news for Facebook users -- and maybe even for Instagrammers. Facebook just bought Instagram for about $1 billion in cash and Facebook shares. Whoa. That's a big deal in Silicon Valley both because Instagram has been one of the hottest social networks of the last few years and because Facebook has never made an acquisition of a company this large. And if you believe Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, they may never make another...
