If your business is using a manual paper-based or spreadsheet-based system, or off-line software for your payroll, you may like to consider modernising before the beginning of the new financial year. From 1 April 2018, Inland Revenue is introducing significant changes to the way employer payroll returns (PAYE) are filed.
For employers not using payday software linked to Inland Revenue’s online portal, these changes will make payday administration more complicated and time consuming.
Time to throw out the paper system?

Stepping away from, or selling up your business, is a massive life event. You may be overwhelmed by emotion and, without proper succession planning, this may lead to poor decision making.
A recent Xero survey found that almost 10% of business owners are likely to retire in the next year and Statistics NZ numbers suggest that up to 25% may leave their business within 10 years. Many of these businesses do not have a succession plan or exit strategy in place.

We look at the potential risks of not having a succession plan and how to go about forming one. http://ow.ly/CIRP30gBRMd

We often get asked by professionals and tradespeople how to determine an appropriate rate for on-charging staff, or what to on-charge for their own time. Whether you’re a builder, plumber, painter, PR or advertising consultant, lawyer, or architect, it’s important to calculate all of the relevant expenses, both variable and fixed, so you know you have these costs covered.
