+Misericordia University and the newly formed Digital Humanities and Pedagogy Working Group invites area educators to participate in a Digital Humanities and Pedagogy Symposium designed to introduce them to tools that will enliven teaching in the humanities, the two-day event is Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29-30. http://bit.ly/2ePn1qN

Over 500 +Misericordia University students participated in the university's annual 9/11 flag ceremony. Groups of students and staff came together throughout the day for intervals at a time carried the flag up high around campus from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. An opening and ending ceremony were held in order to formally introduce and close the ceremony. Many students from Misericordia University had family members and friends located at the tragic event in New York. +Misericordia University was ranked 41st out of 145 colleges and universities in the Best Regional Universities North category by U.S. News and World Report. The 2018 report, Best Colleges, edition also named Misericordia University a “Best Value” institution. This ranking took into consideration Misericordia University’s academic quality, net cost of attendance, and raking in the top tier. +US News & World Report also ranked the university 23rd place for “Best Colleges for Veterans.” Misericordia has climbed 26 places within the past ten years. http://bit.ly/2vSjY4A

+Misericordia University Chem major David Schnable recently earned third place in the STEM category for research posters at the 15th annual Undergraduate Research at the Capitol – Pennsylvania Poster Conference in Harrisburg. +Misericordia University Dept. of Business is collaborating with Luzerne County District Attorney’s Office, the Office of State Rep. Tarah Toohil, R-Butler Township and Snyder & Clemente, Accountants & Consultants to present two programs outlining the importance of developing basic internal accounting controls for all-volunteer organizations. Ellen McLaughlin, Ed.D., O.T.R./L., B.C.P., associate professor of occupational therapy at +Misericordia University, was appointed to the American Occupational Therapy Association-AOTA Roster of Fellows at the annual Awards and Recognitions Ceremony during the 2017 spring AOTA Conference & Expo in Philadelphia celebrating 100 years. On Friday, April 21st +Misericordia University hosted the annual Relay for life event. Individual teams spent Friday night walking the cancer path represented as the inside track to raise money for American Cancer Society. The event raised over 35,000 dollars. Congratulations to the chapter members, advisor Liz Pedro from the I.T. Department, and all the students who helped make it happen.
