I have to agree with another reviewer on here! Calling this fine Mexican food is not doing those that have never been here to experience it justice. This place is decent tex-mex at best! I personally will never go here again but I know a lot of the population of the Omaha area swear by it. The place being a bit of a dive will never have any negative impact on a review in my book. I have had some of the best food at incredibly run down joints. In this case it's just that the food is simply not that good in my opinion. I suppose I am spoiled having lived a good portion of my life in the south west near the Mexican border. So if you have experienced true authentic Mexican food, you will be disappointed with this one.

One of my all-time, long-term favorites for over 20 years. Not the fanciest dishes but the food is always great. Come early for lunch or you'll have to stand in line.

We used to be regulars at Nettie's, but now we only go when my sister is in town. Waitresses are all rude and unwelcoming, like we are putting them out by being there. There is one waitress worth a damn, I think her name is Joann, we like her. Food is mediocre. The prices are too high. The bean dip and margaritas are the only reason I gave it a 2 star rating, oh and the potato & pea enchilada was good but definitely overpriced. I really don't understand how it has a 4 star rating. GI Forum is a hell of a lot tastier, reasonably priced, and welcoming.

I'm disappointed to say the least here, Lorie -- you deserve the best, and it's a shame that your last few visits here haven't been up to par. We haven't changed any recipes since we opened, but some ingredients have gotten more and more expensive over the years. In any case, I'd love for you to come back in soon so we can knock it out of the park for you. -Tina Ziccardi (Co-Owner)

My friend and I had dinner here last night after not eating here in years... the place hasn't changed and is the same amazing food that we both remembered. The margaritas were tasty as well! He had the super enchilada and i had the chicken chimicanga.. both were excellent!

This means a lot, Tammy -- I'm thrilled that you were able to come back and still get the delicious food we're known for. The enchiladas and chimichangas are always popular, and I'd love to see you back soon for more! -Tina Ziccardi (Co-Owner)

I think this is the first time I have rated anything low. We were told that this restaurant was awesome. We got there and the place looks like a dump. The carpet looked old, we had to walk past a refrigerator to get to our seats, the tables were peeling. The food was not much better. Chips were stale salsa was ok and the burrito I ordered was actually ok. The only good thing my party had to say was that the margarita was good.
Response from the owner - 2 years ago
Thanks for trying us out, Timothy. Although I'm glad you and your friends liked our burrito and margaritas, I'm sorry you weren't impressed with our atmosphere. We care a great deal about showing our guests a good time, so it's disappointing to hear that we fell short. Still, it sounds like you enjoyed our food. I hope you'll come back again for more—we have many more dishes on our menu awaiting you! Sincerely, Tina Ziccardi, Co-Owner
