One of the most photographed landmarks in Austin, TX.
On TX-360, otherwise known as the Capital of Texas Highway, lives this bridge which spans Lake Austin. Following in the footsteps of other great Austin-area photogs I figured it was time to toss my attempt into cyberspace.

Mental note: must try this...
We love the AeroPress for making delicious small servings of coffee, and because it makes a very strong coffee concentrate, this unique coffee maker is also ideal for iced coffee. Instapaper creator Marco Arment details his iced coffee Aeropress method. More »

For all you keyboard-hammering geeks out there...
By now we've hammered into your head that sitting down all day is bad for you, and even provided a number of solutions that mostly involve standing up often.

I've often contemplated building a 3D printer and wonder, "what would I make with it?" Imagine the possibilities...
3D printer gives two-year-old girl with rare congenital disease support to use her arms for the first time.

Watch. This. Now.

We all know that Steve McQueen drove an iconic Ford through the streets of San Francisco in Bullitt. But now, +Ken Block takes it to the next level in his Gymkhana 5 efforts. We don't think it's too much to ask to drop everything you're doing and watch him drift, jump and skid his way across the city by the bay in his 650 hp Ford Fiesta.

So a door-to-door guy comes by tonight representing Texas Campaign for the Environment.  He communicates a good pitch and states their goals very clearly.  It all sounds very good.  I ask what their overhead is: 12%.  Not bad.

So I cut them a check and ask for a receipt for taxes.  TCE is a 501(c)(4).  It's not tax deductible.  Interesting.  And I come to find out he's commission based.  His cut?  40%

I'd like to see how your overhead works out to a mere 12% when 40% of your donations go to the door-to-door sales person.

That's the last donation you get from me TCE.  And I'll be spreading the word to make sure people direct their donations to a more efficient cause.
