Yes, "geonerd" and "Chuckflip313" (whoever you are): a crime is a crime. Your overestimation of your physical and mental prowess (call it hubris) - and, for that matter, your penchant for the use of obscenities - will offer precious little consolation if you happen to be trespassing at just the wrong moment.

While we're on the subject, what gives you the right to judge the difference between "real" crimes and those with which you, personally, needn't concern yourselves? And why does someone's desire to be a law-abiding citizen make them "holier-than-thou"?!

It is profoundly unfortunate that, in our society, it's not a "crime" to be a boor.

Story
Introduction

Garl Boyd Latham is a career Railroader, with over 40 years of professional experience in both freight and passenger operations.

Garl is the owner of Latham Railway Services, a Texas-based planning and consulting firm. Recent work has included the design of intermodal freight terminals, the evaluation and testing of Maintenance-of-Way construction materials, and a comprehensive study of potential intercity passenger train routes throughout Texas and the southwestern United States.

Among notable past projects were feasibility and engineering studies for the proposed Dallas, Southeastern and Gulf Railway, and the Texas Boxcar Company (TexBox), as well as the design and development of various model and toy trains.

His background includes 10 years with the National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) and 5 years at Dallas Area Rapid Transit, where he received the "Golden Star" - DART's highest-level employee award.

Garl has served on the boards of many professional and advocacy organizations, such as the National Association of Railroad Passengers, the Southwest Railroad Historical Society and MobilityDallas. In the course of his career, he has made numerous radio, television and personal appearances throughout North America.

A respected railroad historian, Garl has written many articles on Post-World War II-era passenger train services, while assisting countless others in their quest for accurate and entertaining information regarding railroading's colourful past. He is considered one of the foremost authorities on classic Santa Fe Railway passenger operations - especially their famed flagship train, the 'Super Chief'.

To date, he has traveled more than 350,000 miles by train.

A native of Dallas and a fifth-generation Texan, Garl currently resides in Bexar County with his wife Michele and their daughters Gracie and Phoebe.  Two cats, Bailey and Jackie, share their home.

The proper name of this facility is Dallas Union Terminal. Today's Union Terminal adequately serves its intended purpose as a railway station; however, the City of Dallas' desire to make it into a special events venue has caused large areas of the depot to become off-limits to the general public. In fact, there are now so many restricted locations, a railroad passenger cannot walk from one end of the main floor to another without encountering doors which are both closed and locked! Unless you're riding an Amtrak train, I see no reason to venture into Union Terminal. Passengers for DART - including both light rail and streetcar services, and the Trinity Railway Express - can circumnavigate the building and purchase their fares from vending machines on the several platforms. The specific area in question may be part of the greater "Union Station" complex, but it maintains no direct association with Dallas' original Union Terminal building. Passengers for DART - including both light rail and streetcar services, and the Trinity Railway Express - can easily circumnavigate Union Terminal and purchase their fares from vending machines on the several platforms. Toilet facilities are located on the depot's first floor; they are fairly clean and typically available to the general public. Otherwise, DART riders will find little more than a transit stop - one among many. It's really too bad, because Union Terminal could have been so much more. Garl Boyd Latham
