Exciting news. Friends of mine are launching a fundraising effort to open a tea house in Great Barrington, MA in the Spring. This business will employ special needs adults and provide a great way for them and the community to interact in a fun and supportive atmosphere… and who doesn’t like tea. The United States Supreme Court ruled today that inherited Individual Retirement Accounts are not "retirement funds" under the #Bankruptcy  Code. These funds are therefore subject to creditor claims.

You thought you solved the problem when you filed a Chapter 13 #bankruptcy  case but the mortgage servicer is placing your monthly payments in a "suspense account" and adding late charges. Take action.

Much has been written about the  collection activity of debt buyers but did you know that mortgage services buy debt also?  It should come as no surprise that often the debt is no longer owed due to #bankruptcy.

A NY regulator might have been correct to stop the purchase of more mortgage accounts for want of better procedures. It appears that some account assignments were made after #bankruptcy  discharges. We detailed one example in a lawsuit filed today in the U.S. District Ct. in Massachusetts.
