Middle School Boys Basketball update:

Eagles boys basketball starting off in the right direction!!

Our season started on January 14th vs Harriet Tubman. We started off nervous and battled back and forth throughout the game! Our defense was great! Kamron Torres made the game's winning shot with 8 seconds left! The final score was 20-19.

Our next game we won by forfeit.

On January 22 we played against Bronx Prep. Our full court press caused problems for Bronx Prep which led to easy baskets! Deandre Johnson had two 3 pointers and led the team with 8 points. Ameer Blair chipped in with 7 points and 6 rebounds. We are now 3-0 and in first place! Coach Cooper and Coach Vic are very proud of the hard work the team puts inpractice that shows in the game!!!!

LETS GO EAGLES

This past snowy Friday, Equality Charter Middle and High School had a wonderful joint Career Day at the middle school campus. There were 360 scholars, 60 staff members, and 28 guest presenters who participated, despite the weather. Scholars asked incredible questions and impressed all of our guests. We are also very grateful to the staff and parents who helped make it a great success!

8th grade scholars prepare for their immigration unit in Social Studies by researching a country.  Some hardworking scholars brought in food from their assigned immigrant country for extra credit :)

On Thursday, December 18th, the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) members of the 9th grade took a field trip to deliver the ~300 gifts from the Toy Drive hosted by both middle and high school NJHS members and the brothers of Men of Tomorrow (M.O.T.) to St. Mary's Children's Hospital in Bayside, Queens. In addition to delivering the gifts, the NJHS high school scholars spent two hours with the patients of the hospital in the Toddler Wing. They participated in coloring, iPad game playing, block playing, and general encouragement of the patients. Children at St. Mary's have widely varying conditions including cancer and developmental diseases. Scholars were very appreciative of the opportunity to spend time with the patients and are looking forward to returning in the spring.
