A long time ago I subscribed to the buy a better camera idea and guess what......I WASN'T ANY BETTER....go figure....6 years later and a step back in time to 4x5 film and I'm finally understanding why I didn't understand. Funny how some people get it and then there are the people like me that take forever to figure some things out. I've got a few photography jobs this year, nothing giant, A family members wedding in northern California, and another as a backup shooter for a Wedding in DC in the fall. With that in mind I'm going to be selling all of my Pro Gear (maybe everything).....1DMIII body and such, and just rent a body or two for those shoots. I've carried these things with me to work and such for years for no other reason than to "have them there just in case" and you know what? NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. So they are outa here....I've decided that unless I really get the drive to get out there and do this photography thing full time, that closet of gear is wasting away. I'm gonna keep on shooting the 4x5 as long as film is made, a year into it and i'm finally figuring out BW film, so slide and color negative should be quite an adventure....
As for traveling though.....as much as I'd love to drop some coin on an M9 with a 35mm, I just cannot justify the cost, so I'm heavily looking at the new fujifilm X-Pro 1. It looks like a wonderful little camera, and from what I read and hear from guys like +Zack Arias
and +RC Concepcion
its changing their worlds too. Time to head on over to +LensProToGo
and borrow one of theirs for a few days.
