IDIOTS OF THE DAY -- The Stinking Rose Edition
On Fox last night, Gretchen "Bimbo" Carlson kept insisting, as other FNC talking heads have been doing as well, "It's not us reporting this -- it's the New York Times. We are just telling you what they found." Uhm... not quite. It's really a shame that NYT gives credibility to this media goon squad. The allegations by yet another conservative "researcher" (remember Jim Corsi?) prove flimsy, at best.
But the best part of Carlson's act was flipping a comment by one of her guests, who said, "the foundation isn't the Clintons' personal ATM" (or something to that effect -- I don't recall the exact phrasing after 24 hours). A few minutes later, Carlson chimed in, "Like you said, it's the Clintons' personal ATM", repeating the earlier comment word for word, except for the word "not". The guy just shook his head, resisting an obvious facepalm impulse.
The book is a scam, a protracted smear, imitating the Swift Boat campaign. The fact that a number of mainstream publications fell for it is a real shame.
