Dark ages of mental health care without evidence based effectiveness being propagated by experienced charlatans in Walla Walla, Washington. This discredited therapy is still used in pockets around the world..
Our adult child in postpartum depression and medicated with antidepressants sought help while living 2000 miles away in Walla Walla, Washington. Someone tried to help using a long discredited recovered memory therapy creating repressed memories (false or "pseudo memories" as labelled by the APA) ...

PT Barnum is credited with saying "There is a sucker born every minute". The common existence of pseudoscience is absolute proof that we are vulnerable to unreasonable claims. It can help us to reflect on how pseudoscience and genuine science contrast so that we become better able to avoid the squandering of our resources..
The word "pseudo" means fake. The surest way to spot a fake is to know as much as possible about the real thing—in this case, about science itself. Knowing science does not mean simply knowing scientific facts (such as the distance from earth to sun, the age of the earth, the distinction between ...

It is amazing that story after story after story, reported by retractors themselves in most cases, detail the tragedy brought on by the mistaken notion that fantasies or pseudo memories (once called repressed memories) are historically accurate depictions. In fact they are more the result of cultural conditions, popular media images and suggestive therapy often facilitated while medicated.
The personal stories below are of those who recovered "repressed memories". Some later are able to realize the "memories" were false and retract those stories. Retraction is always difficult, it must overcome shame and is rarely public. In fact many will live with the false memories and isolate ...

Experiences, data and science point to some clear conclusions about pseudo memories (once called "repressed memories") or false memories. Years of hindsight are now available to evaluate claims (often retracted) that were never supported by the facts but that continue to imprison and harm many families and victims (both the accused and the accuser).

Pseudo science is often used to persuade us into making poor purchasing decisions. Awareness of what reveals pseudo science at work can help us know when poor decisions are being encouraged. Contracting pseudo science and genuine science can help us become more reasonable, efficient and wise.

This page details the legal actions and precedents that have stemmed the tide of pseudo memories (once called "repressed memories") or false memories that once tore families apart, destroyed careers, imprisoned innocent people and harmed those it thought were being helped. The American Psychological Association and American Psychiatric Association were forced by lawsuits and court orders to reform. The details of some of these cases are revealed in the reviews and articles on this page.

A collection of video's that include dramatized documentaries (one classified as a "thriller / horror/ mystery"), interviews of victims and retractors, lectures by experts and expose's by main line media. ALl of them deal with pseudo memories (once called "repressed memories") or false memories.
The American Psychological Association has officially stated, after extensive review and study, that "Repressed Memories" are controversial & extremely rare IF they do occur. "Seek a licensed and insured therapist" for assistance in helping determine if the "memories" might be true or not.

I am now mature, stout, persistent, focused but sometimes rough. Your tolerance is appreciated!
Introduction
My family has provided me with an adventure no other life investment has dared to match in terms of genuine return.   My wife of 39 years, 6 wonderful children, 12 grandchildren are all a special gift to me.  Science education is my vocation of 38 years (mostly Physics but also Chemistry, Physical Science, Computer Science among others). I am a lifetime member of the "Modeling Teacher Association" and I have been a trainer of teachers in modeling, PRISMS and the Alabama Science in Motion program.  My Catholic faith offers me solace, joy and growth in every area of my life.
Bragging rights
My wife of 39 years, 6 wonderful children, 12 grandchildren. I spent 4 years in the United States Air Force during a time of downsizing and rose in rank to Sargent prior to Honorary discharge after 4 years. Numerous national, state and local awards as science teacher. Coached students 10 state titles in intellectual competitions (4 in chess and 6 in Physics). A wife of more of 38+ years, 6 wonderful children by same wonderful wife, still increasing numbers of grandchildren (+12). I attempt to survive wilderness excursions (love the Grand Canyon) each summer and have been successful at this so far.

I have worked at 5 different high schools both public and private in three different states in 38 years. This is a large private high school with a wide variety of programs. Students can focus on extracurricular interests and programs like athletics and/or band while taking less time consuming classes. Students can take Aquinas Academy level coursework that includes and exceeds Advanced Placement and Baccalaureate programs (I have taught in both of those at nearby schools). Students leave the school and do well in the military, junior colleges, state universities, elite colleges (like MIT or Yale) and Military Academies. I used ACT scores and College Board Benchmark Data from 2012 and found that our graduates ON AVERAGE when compared to the average state student: are 1.4 times more likely that other state students to make a B in the first college English class, 1.7 times more likely to make a B in the first college Math course.. 1.9 times more likely to make a B in the first college Science course. So the data confirms my suspicions. This is a fabulous school. 4 of my 6 children went here (even when I taught elsewhere) and all of them have degrees or are in the pipeline to get one. Education is much more than academics and the school is definitely Catholic with an emphasis on character, faith and knowledge. Superior opportunity for students who attend but, of course, opportunity is what you make of it!

Nice pool. Nice games. If you have anything to do over the internet then forget this place. The Tango internet connections are cumbersome, slow and almost useless. My daughter has gotten to the point that she says "Oh no. The KOA internet is just like all the other KOA's. It doesn't work." Instead of a cabin I guess we should have checked into a motel where the internet actually works. Geesh.
