The Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Gifted to Serve

Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 1 Corinthians 12:1

This verse is a great introduction to the importance God places on spiritual gifts. When you trusted Jesus as your Savior, you received the Holy Spirit who gave you at least one spiritual gift. Therefore, every believer has a responsibility to discover and use his/her spiritual gift(s) to minister by faith in the body of Christ.

Jesus never intended the ministry of His church to be carried on by professionals with spectators who only watch. Your spiritual gift is a divine calling with a divine responsibility because what God has called you to do, He has gifted you to do. There is nothing that will help you grow and mature in Christ more than to use your spiritual gift(s) to serve God in a local church.

Why Attend Church Regularly?

There are many reasons why there is not a commitment to church like there used to be, but there are some biblical reasons to reconsider if you are not attending church regularly, or if you only attend as a spectator. If you are a follower of Jesus, you want to love what He loves and Jesus loves the church. God designed your life in Christ to be lived out in the family, in the church and in the world.

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching. Hebrews 10:24-25

May the Spirit of God give you understanding from His Word of the necessity, relevance, and importance of the church by reading this inspired post: http://diggingdeeperheargodspeak.com/why-attend-church-regularly/

Rejoice and Be Glad!

Rejoice and be glad is not positive thinking! The cares of earthly life very quickly choke out joy but the joy that God gives does not depend on your circumstances. Joy is a supernatural work of the Holy Spirit in good times as well as bad. With God’s help, begin to look at daily irritants as opportunities to depend on God and walk by His Spirit. The more you seek God’s presence and power and trust in Him, the more joy you will have despite your troubles. As you focus on Jesus, you will have reason to praise Him and rejoice because Jesus is the source of joy! http://diggingdeeperheargodspeak.com/thank-god-always/

Be Filled and Walk by the Spirit

As a believer, you know that God sent the Holy Spirit to indwell you when you believed in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ for your sins, but do you also know what it means to be filled and walk by the Spirit? To rely on the power of the Holy Spirit and not in yourself is an important teaching of the Bible but it is often forgotten by believers.

I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? Galatians 3:2-3

Without relying on the Spirit of God, following Jesus becomes a joyless duty. No wonder you have been thinking the Christian life does not work. Life in the Spirit is supernatural! Cleansing a Guilty Conscience

God created each one of us with a conscience that tells us when we do something wrong. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God’s command in the Garden of Eden, they felt guilt, shame and regret so they hid from God and so do we. People try to escape guilt through busyness or through earthly pleasures, while others attempt to overcome guilt by resolving to do good things. Many deny their guilt by blaming others or by making excuses like, “I am not perfect but I’m basically a good person.”

In the physical world, we pay a penalty if we break man’s laws. In the spiritual world, the penalty for breaking God’s laws must also be paid, but how? We can’t pay! The Bible tells us why.

The law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Hebrews 9:22

If you believe in Jesus, yet you are living with guilt and shame, find out how to be set free: http://diggingdeeperheargodspeak.com/cleansing-a-guilty-conscience/
