KATIE GARIBALDI: Based in the golden city of San Francisco, this determined and enthusiastic singer/songwriter/guitarist is an avid national touring performer who has acquired a devoted fan base, due in large part to her engaging live shows, and personal connection to her listeners through her music. Katie has a characteristic musical style wherein her equally pop- and country-tinged folk-rock gives her a distinct and soulful sound—Americana with sparkling memorable melodies. Katie Garibaldi’s new album Follow Your Heart, is now available digitally and physically worldwide. Tweet@katiegaribaldi

GILLI MOON: has led an extraordinary life which has resulted in 6 albums, 2 published books, magazine articles, TV features and performances with some of the biggest acts in the world. She has created her own record label, Warrior Girl Music. She is now a mum of twin babies, 23 months old., Tweet@gillimoon

J. WALKER: is a spoken word artist who began his journey as a hip-hop lyricist. He has had his music played at the Staples Center, on 60 minutes, on TNT and others. He has won numerous poetry slams throughout the country and has been asked to perform and teach his rhymes across the world. But there is nowhere he would rather be than right here, right now. AVI K: Avi K hails from New Jersey. Since moving to L.A. in 2012, she’s performed at almost every poen mic in town to network in the community & hone both her songwriting & performance chops. A regular & favorite artist at Kulaks Woodshed, she met Jimi Yamagishi and is currently writing new songs for use in the church. Her dynamic vocals & stage presence are gonna get you up off your seat!

JIMI YAMAGISHI: writes stuff, plays fixes & builds guitars, sings, cooks, works on cars, sometimes successfully, tries to live life off the corporate grid, washes dishes, takes out the garbage, cleans the litter box & generally lives by the grace of God. If ya wanna know more, go talk to him. He doesn't bite & is not contagious. Yet.

Wednesday JUNE 4th
SongNet will have a special meeting celebrating Kenny Kerner’s life.
He was to be our guest speaker for the evening, and as most of you may know, he passed on earlier this week.
Kenny was one of the most influential people in the industry, taking his experience with the “Old School” way of doing things & working with “New School” ideas & concepts to create “Thecoolschool” with his friend Chris Fletcher.
If you were a friend of his, have some stories to share or just want to come hear what he was all about, please join us.
You will find that by sharing a life, you learn much. & that is what Kenny was all about. His famous use of expletives to punctuate a point was real, & true to a man who made use of street knowledge to educate those who didn’t understand the HEART of this business..
We hope to have many industry friends dropping through, if possible, please msg Jimi Yamagishi personally on facebook or by personal email over the weekend to let me know you are coming so we can provide you a moment to share.
Honoring Kenny Kerner@ SongNet
June 4th, 7:30 PM
@ The Coffee Gallery Backstage
2029 N. Lake Ave, Altadena, CA
There will be no critique, however you are also welcome to share a “relevant” song live, if you like, thanks!

WEDNESDAY June 4, 2014, 7:30pm -10:00pm

SURVIVING AS AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST. Since the advent of the Internet, Independent Artists have been completely in charge of their own careers—from scheduling the recording of their CDs to owning their own publishing. But what does it really take to be a professional Independent Artist? What’s the plan? What steps must a musician take to insure his or her success? And once that plan is followed to the letter, how does a musician go about making money with his music or his talents? This intriguing discussion reveals what it takes to actually GO PRO as an artist and head on down the path of making money making music.

Kenny Kerner and Chris Fletcher own and run thecoolschool for music business studies and each have been educators for over 25 years. Both have shared their wisdom & experiences at SongNet before, and since the industry has changed so much so quickly, we are fortunate to have them back! Priceless information…FREE!
