I bought an Amazon local coupon a couple of weeks ago for Mac! and finally decided to walk over the Mac! last weekend for lunch. Generally, I don't like restaurants where you have to walk to the counter to order. Why is it they deliver the food to your table and still expect the requisite 20% tip? So, I took my adult daughter and my girlfriend to Mac! last Saturday. We arrived about noon and there were no other customers. The guy manning the cash register wasn't all that friendly and he seemed to take offense at my Amazon deal. We eventually ordered three different mac and cheeses: the Original, the Tabetha & Karissa's Spinach & Artichoke, and the Poutine. We also ordered two glasses of iced tea. Let's start with the iced tea which came in a 16oz glass that was filled with at least 12oz of ice. When the waiter arrived at our table with our three mac and cheeses, there was no offer to refill the iced teas that we paid $2.50 each for. The waiter also never returned to ask whether we needed anything or liked our meals. The three mac and cheeses were incredibly bland and not very cheesy. The "Original" tasted like original Kraft Mac and Cheese out of the box. I was expecting real mac and cheese that would have a thick, rich, cheesy sauce that would taste like real cheese. The "Original" didn't deliver that. The "Tabetha & Karissa's Spinach & Artichoke" was a very bland mac and cheese in a white sauce. After taking a few bites, I looked carefully for some artichoke: there were a few pieces but they were absolutely flavorless. There were ten or so leaves of spinach, one of which was grainy/dirty tasting. The cheese sauce was thin and bland and tasted like it came from a mix. As with the "Original," it was impossible to ascertain what cheese the dish was actually made from. The worst of the dishes was the Poutine, which is saying something considering the other two dishes. I have had real poutine in the past and that only part of the dish that resembled poutine were the little cheese balls/curds. The sauce for this dish was very, very thin and had little flavor except for vinegar. Poutines are typically made with a brown gravy that has some meat flavor. Since the portions were good sized, I would have given the restaurant two stars. However, given the crappy service, small iced teas, and the horrendous Poutine mac and cheese, I can only give Mac! one star. If you like good food, I can't recommend this place to anyone. If you like Kraft Mac and Cheese out of the box, stop in and pay $8 for a decent-sized portion of their "Original." But be forewarned in regards to the quality of the product.

I have pretty high standards for mac and cheese, and when a place is advertising itself as a mecca of mac and cheese, it gives me a lot of hope for gooey cheesiness. When you enter, you can start your order there at there at the counter, including starting a tab. I started out with fried mac and cheese balls (which tempted me more than the other guilty pleasure options for appetizers of poutine), which are 4 to an order and served with marinara sauce or pay the extra 50 cents to get them with bacon jalapeno. This was the best item I had. I also went with Mac! Mac Cheesery's Cheeseburger mac and cheese with natural local seasoned ground beef, crispy bacon, onions, cheddar, and topped with crushed bbq flavored chips. Based on the ingredients, it sounded quite savory, but the ground beef didn't seem to have enough seasoning to make give the dish its burger-y tone that I was expecting, and I found myself trying to scoop carefully to distribute the chips for some crunch since the bacon wasn't really to be found. It's surprising that this place that specializes in them isn't up to par with other mac and cheese offerings at other restaurants with its crispy and layers of multiple cheese. Mac! offers: lots of combinations on the menu, but seemingly not a lot of complexity in the flavor, a gooey promise unfulfilled. It seems they need better cheese and additional seasoning- it's more reminiscent of an upgrade of the box mac and cheese rather than decadent restaurant mac and cheese. At least as a consolation, these cheesy dishes are huge- so you getting two servings worth with each dish.

I love mac & cheese, and this place has some really good options. It feels a little spendy for the amount of food you're getting, but it isn't too bad. The caprese is an excellent choice, as are most of them. The spicy was only okay in my opinion, though your mileage may vary. If fried food is your thing, try the fried mac & cheese balls. They recently just changed their register system, and now you can pay with Square. I'm a fan of any business that lets me pay with my phone! One thing I didn't care for though was the fact that they had NASCAR playing on the tvs. It didn't feel like they were trying to go for the sports bar vibe, so maybe it was for irony? Either way, tvs in restaurants are a detractor for me. Still, I'd go back.

I had the four-cheese macaroni & cheese with bacon and chicken. It tasted too much like an Italian pasta dish than mac and cheese, probably because of the four cheese. I will say getting there by car is very difficult as it is somewhat tucked away, and being a good parallel parking driver is a plus. I would recommend it as a novelty thing.

The food at Mac! is not that good, and less so for the price. There are significantly better eateries only footsteps away.

Amazing. Got Grandmas (with beef dogs in it? YES!) and cheese balls. Gluttony, but I deserve it, and so do you. Justice League on the TV, retro lunch boxes on the wall, definitely a nice place to chill.

The caprese Mac and cheese is very good! The four cheese is tasty but even better with the franks hot sauce they provide. The spicy chicken was ok, but had like fried chicken nugs in it that were good. Overall, the macs had great creamy consistency! Yum!

Good Mac, as one would expect from a place called Mac! Try the truffle Mac or the Mac and bacon jalapeño cheese balls.
