Last year the Irish Government launched a 'Trading Online' voucher scheme, and as of today it has been made available to small businesses in Cork.

The scheme allows small businesses under 10 people and €2m turnover p.a. to access up to €2.5k in 'matched funds' (meaning whatever the business pays up €2.5k the government will match).

There are some restrictions -  for example only 'small' businesses of under 10 employees and under €2m p.a. revenue can apply. However the funds can be spent on a wide variety of things including building a new website, marketing etc... You can even spend 30% of the funds on internet advertising with Google, Facebook etc...

There's a bit more info available from the link below: http://www.dcenr.gov.ie/Communications/Knowledge+Society/NDS+Trading+Online+Voucher+Scheme.htm

Also Cork City and Cork South LEO or Cork South LEO are offering two info sessions, on the 17th June: https://www.localenterprise.ie/CorkCity/Training-Events/Online-Bookings/Online-Training-Voucher-Information-Seminar.html
or 3rd July: https://www.localenterprise.ie/CorkCity/Training-Events/Online-Bookings/On-Line-Voucher-Information-Seminar.html

A superb workshop coming up on 20th Feb for anyone thinking about trading online or upgrading their web presence.

http://www.corkceb.ie/trainingevents/194

The course covers everything from how to get paid online to how to manage your inventory to how to be found to how to turn website browsers into customers. However, as it's a workskhop with some one-to-one time with the trainer included, there are only 6 places.

As with all Cork City Enterprise Board training it's heavily discounted, so book fast!

The #realexfirewebs Web Awards had over 500 nominations this year - that's a tough competition. So we are delighted to announce that our clients have survived the culling of the quarter- and semi-finals and have reached the finals in no less than four categories. What's more, we've been nominated as Best Web Agency of the year! Read all about it ... http://ow.ly/queVU

Ger Keohane, StudioForty9's founder, leader and chief mugglewamp is a very hard-working guy. So it's great that he was recognised as such in yesterday's Irish Examiner. In the article. He talks about how we got started as an #ecommerce provider, what it's like to work with #SME clients and why ideas need to be shared to 'breathe'.

Only a few hours left for one small business to win a €30k bursary organised by Cork Innovates. This will be a serious shot in the arm for one #entrepeneur or #sme so if you want to enter get your skates on ...
Our write-up is at http://www.studioforty9.com/blog/competition-for-entrepeneurs-win-a-30000-bursary and the entry form is at http://corkinnovates.com/submissions-for-cork-innovates-bursary-2013/

We just received an email from Pat Rabbitte's department, updating us on the Trading Online scheme they announced over the summer.

The scheme aims to get 2,000 more businesses trading online - and part of it includes offering a €2,500 voucher towards a minimum €5k project.

The details of the pilot will be announced next week. All we know for now is:
+ the pilot will only cover businesses in Dublin
+ the pilot will be administered but the Dublin City Ent Board
+ the scheme is due to be rolled out nationally in 2014

Looks good so far but we'll wait to see the detail!
