Silicones by QSi are used in many different prosthetic applications, including silicone liners, silicone skins/coverings, liquid silicone rubber for molding prosthetic parts, distal pads and mastectomy forms. Pigments can be added to silicone for painting onto prosthetic parts to create a realistic look. Specialty product enhancers are available to reduce surface friction, bond substrates or create your desired softness of silicone material. Learn how silicones can benefit your prosthetic application in this downloadable brochure! http://bit.ly/2bGlQ7w

Air becomes trapped when hand-mixing 2-part #silicones - Vacuum de-airing or de-gassing is an important step to remove entrapped air in the mixed silicone. While the silicone cures, these air pockets or voids in the silicone can cause excess expansion during increased temperatures. (Air expands at a greater rate than the solid silicone). The de-air chamber causes air bubbles to expand and rise to the surface where they continue to expand until the surface tension can no longer contain air inside the bubble. If a de-air chamber isn’t accessible, the silicone can be slowly mixed in a folding motion to minimize air entrapment.

QSi recently had another positive #ISO audit on customer related processes, design & development of products, documentation process, CAPA process and internal audit process. In all of those processes, the NSF auditors did a thorough examination and found nothing wrong (no findings). They also noted several examples of continual improvements that we have made since their last visit. Our next audit will be to certify us according to the new ISO 9001:2015 standard. You can download a copy of our ISO certificate for your records!

Thank You to all QSi employees and family members who participated in the CASA Superhero 5K Run. Results are in and quite a few runners on the QSi team won their age division, beat their personal record, and one runner finished 2nd place overall! Wow! Great job, everyone. From our 12 runners and QSi’s sponsorship, QSi donated $800 this year.

The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a nonprofit program dedicated to providing a voice in court for abused and neglected children - helping to ensure an opportunity for a safe and permanent home. You can learn more about CASA at http://bit.ly/1oOiJeg
