In a few hours the Supremes will announce the ACA finding. Unless you've been living under a rock with no WiFi access, you know they'll either leave the ACA as is, leave it pretty much intact but remove the individual mandate or reject the law in sum toto. It won't be the end of things, because there will be legislative action no matter what happens, and there are other cases winding their collective way back to the Supremes. While these things n...

In 2008 we found that the best way to get info on what was happening during the convention was to follow the delegates (and superdelegates!). We just created a Twitter List that follows delegates to the 2012 Democratic National Convention in Charlotte. If you're a delegate or know of any delegates on Twitter please email us at info@DemocraticConventionWatch.com

You can't read a convention story or go on #DNC2012 without being barraged by home rental ads for the convention. We saw it here in Denver in 2008 where people expected to rent there homes for unrealistic prices. Unless you're close to the action don't expect to get rich off of a week of rentals (unless you're the owner of DNCRentals.com). From WBTV "It's gonna sky rocket for anything inside the security bubble or give them much better potentia...

From Charlotte Business Journal • Dedicated light-rail service will run between the Charlotte Convention Center and the arena on Sept. 4 and 5 for journalists to use. The city expects normal operations to return the morning of Sept. 6. • Democrati...

Decisions to come shortly on three cases. As decisions come in revese order of seniority, the Health Care cases are expected to be last. How long it takes to reach them will depend on how long the comments from the bench (both by the author and by any dissenters who wish to comment from the bench) take. Besides the Health Care cases, the other major opinion left outstanding is the Stolen Valor Act -- criminaliing the making of false representatio...

Sen. Claire McCaskill brushed off buzz about her skipping the Democratic National Convention and questions about whether she's looking for some distance from a politically-challenged president in a gaggle with Capitol Hill reporters (the questions are paraphrased): "I've got a really hard election, if you were in a really hard election and it was after Labor Day, would you go to North Carolina to a bunch of parties and glad-handling? Or would you...

Senator Tom Coburn attacked convention financing last month, and he's at it again, this time with friends: Sens. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) and Mark Udall (D-Colo.) will introduce legislation Monday ending federal funding to party conventions in presidential elections. The legislation stops the Democratic or Republican parties from using Presidential Election Campaign Funds (PECF) for party conventions. The legislation would apply to conventions after ...
