Something does not make sense. You mention that the retailers were reluctant to buy new readers. In India the readers are loaned by the retailer's bank free of charge or rentals.

We shifted to pin-and-chip cards about a year ago. Even then in the times of swipe and sign times we would get a text message on the registered mobile phone within seconds of the transaction. So chances of multiple fraudulent transactions are practically nil. If my card is lost or stolen, all I need to do is send a simple 6 character message to the bank from this registered mobile phone and the card gets blocked instantly. So how does the fraud even take place ?

For online transactions like shopping through net-banking or credit card purchase we instantly get an - OTP - One time password - on our mobile phone which MUST be input before the transaction is completed.

The fraudster would need my phone or a clone  AND the credit card information to get away with committing one.  A highly unlikely scenario. This too can happen if I am not monitoring the phone or am unaware that the phone is not in my possession or close by.

So all this talk of fraud boils down to what? If we in India can manage this why can't the same be implemented in US with vastly superior communication infrastructure?

I guess here is where I post a request for guidance.

I see one very important feature missing in Gmail on my Nexus 7 2012 WIFi running Lollipop 5.0.2.  I have been searching for a way to mark an email as UNREAD. Quite often I need to respond to some messages from my PC, much easier to type long narratives.

Has anyone worked out how to do that ? I do tend to forget to reply when it appears as "read" when I am working on my PC.

File size may be greatly reduced but will need a much higher power processor to encode as well as playback. I experienced this first hand on my 3 year old dual core Atom with 4 gb ram. The best it could handle was around 2mbps mp4 file (not x264) . If it went any higher it would start losing audio + subtitle sync and start dropping frames or even picture would freeze.  No such problem with recently built i3-3220T processor with 8 gb ram even up to 16 mbps rips.

One would have to see how soon the ripping software like Handbrake or the like support it.

I have been trying to find a source for this product for while now and it is still listed as not available. I am already using VE-300 and am very happy with the functionality. I have 2 complaints about it though. The side toggle switch is kind of not too easy to work. So is the USB 3 port, not the best quality hardware is used. USB 3 connectivity is of little consequence as I still have to use USB 2 for Win 7 installations. No builtin USB 3 support after first reboot. Haven't tried it with Win 8 as yet since there are no takers !

What I would love to see is some modified of VE-200 with touch pad like VE-400 in stead of the toggle switch on the side. That would be just perfect.
