5 seats available and I will award the 6th for special consideration or to the next alternate.

I hope everyone has a very merry Christmas this week!

I would like to try to fit in a game this Saturday 12/29 6:30 to 12:00 PM

Please reserve a seat below.

In light of Google shutting down G+, I took the time to make sure we saved all the work that has resulted as part of this campaign.

I know that copies of these can be found in the drive of the writer, but I wanted the entire library in a single place so that a continuous record of sessions are more easlily available to everyone.

I have part of it on the website, but I wanted to be sure that it was retained in a central location. I plan to circle back and get the remaining documents off of the website as well.

You can find the entire Chronicle in the guild vault.

I am available to DM this Saturday let’s see how many are available and then we will figure out how to proceed.

In years past we have sometimes shared gifts with the rest of the group during the holiday season.

I would just like to say that no one expects this and it is fine if you do not participate in any gifts for the guild. We have grown significantly and it can be a bit overwhelming.

If you do plan to gift this year and would like to share your intentions, feel free to post here.

This is all 100% voluntary and you should not feel badly for not giving gifts even if you receive something.

Carry on nerdy folk!

Saturday 12/8/18 6:30 to 12:00

Table 1:
“Attention! The city guard has requisitioned the guild to investigate increasing crime in the city of Rockport and the surrounding areas. They believe it to be a small band of ragamuffins looking to cause trouble. However, each event has become increasingly gruesome, and they fear that if the band is not apprehended post haste, people may lose their lives. Your guild master requires up to six rank one initiates to investigate the crime spree, and provide information that may lead to the apprehension of the guilty party or parties. They have given us permission to detain any persons we believe may be responsible for the crimes. Under no circumstances, however, are we to use lethal force unless in self defense. Please make your intentions known to the quartermaster at your earliest convenience.”

Table 2:
Attention! After the discovery of the structure under lake Placid or Wenzan, as it has been reported, it is the desire of the guild elders to further explore the lair of the aberration come to be called an Aboleth. This is believed to be a very dangerous expedition and only the highest ranking members are appropriate to take on the task. Rank 9 or higher.

Until a better method can be created, seats will be filled first come first taken.

Please open your post with (Table 1) or (Table 2) for clarity and then feel free to make any character comments you feel appropriate.
Once the first five (5) seats have been filled at the table, any remaining posts will automatically assigned to the remaining table.

The 6th and any additional seats will be assigned at the DMs discretion.

Please be a good sport about this and understand that we just want to give everyone a chance to play and have fun.

Thank you!

As we transition into a new phase of the guild where we have grown beyond the ability of a single DM to serve everyone, we find ourselves reevaluating what it is we are trying to accomplish with all of this.

Most everyone has picked up at some level that we are entertaining various ways to fill seats and schedule sessions in a way that encourages 3F. Friendly, Fun and Fair.

It is important to emphasize at this point that this is not a bad thing, it is a challenge that we must embrace in order to continue to grow and help people engage in this hobby.

As a founding member, self appointed leader and the primary DM up to this point, I would like to share my thoughts on the vision I have for where I would like to see this go. Then I invite everyone to share their thoughts.

3F remains a priority to me with an emphasis on friendly. If we can’t encourage healthy positive relationships as a foundational pillar of the community, I really don’t think I would be interested in continuing to work towards building a community.

I say this not as a precursor to quitting, but in recognition that sometimes groups outgrow the ability to remain focused on the important values it started with.

If we think this is an unavoidable result of organizing beyond the restraint of a single DM, then I will be the first to suggest that we disband and go about forming small groups.

If we are to continue forward as a community with a focus on 3F, then we will have to find a way to schedule games in a way that encourages 3F. Scheduling is the activity that has the greatest chance of allowing 3F to fall to wayside.

Players getting left out, cliques forming and excluding members, open drafts where players are made to feel inferior, experienced players not mixing with new players.

These all feel like ways that we can begin to slip into a place where it is at least counterproductive from a community standpoint and possibly a very negative direction.

It is my opinion that we should all defend this foundational perspective from both sides of the screen.
This is going to mean that players will have to abandon the idea that every session will be played with a selected group of players. That DMs will work toward keeping groups balanced.

Does that mean that old friends will never get to form a session to reunite old characters? No, I don’t think that is a good idea either. I think that should be available to players infrequently. Maybe a subgroup of players really enjoy a heavy RP session that isn’t really supported by all players. Let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water.

I would like to see flexibility instead of an absolute one size fits all approach. Maybe we have a 4th F in flexible?

I am in favor of creating a framework around a number of methods that may be used to schedule sessions. There may be a standard operating method that is the weekly go to. There could be a method for getting the old group together or for enabling that RP focused session, and perhaps many others. Instead of adding increasing complexity to a single method, we develop a portfolio of methods that meet many needs without inviting a lack of 3F or disorganization.

This community started out of a desire to play more regularly and has evolved into something pretty special in my opinion. It deserves the effort and compromise that is required to give it a shot at continuing.

This has gotten really long, but I wanted to let everyone know where things are and provide a place to have your voice heard.

The DMs will likely move forward with some form of plan in the near future. Ultimately it is the DM that has the most invested and without DMs none of this is possible. This plan is subject to revision and tweaking along the way that is responsive to the need of the community.

Until then, we will continue to play something.

Please reply with facets of the game that should be preserved during this transition. What parts are important? What are your concerns? Ideas thoughts?
