My tutorial blog post on using machine learning to cluster and predict locations is now on Sony Developer World.
The Python notebook is available here:
https://github.com/hakanjonsson/location-clustering-and-prediction
Could you benefit from knowing your Lifelog users favourite locations and predicting their movement between those locations? In this post, Sony's Master Engineer, Håkan Jonsson, explains how to apply machine learning to location data retrieved from the Sony Lifelog API.

Great blog post by +Ann Wuyts on the Obvious Data Usage Principle.
What if you take the user's point of view, and a transparency approach to using only data points that are actually useful? The the obvious data usage principle (ODUP) as described in the The data chicken and egg problem paper by Håkan Jonsson is exactly what you need to be 'deliberate' from a user perspective.

On the dangers of bad economic science and it's abuse by politicians.
A recent post by public policy professor Alex Marsh got me thinking. If economic ideas influence policy makers, what happens when the economic ideas turn out to be wrong? This is not an idle question. Recently there have been three examples of economic ideas that have had huge impact on policy [...]

"The city of Malmö in southern Sweden ranks fourth on the list of cities with the most patent applications per 10,000 residents.

Malmo is young with nearly half of its population under the age of 35. It is also diverse, boasting the highest proportion of foreign-born residents of any city in Sweden."

I would add Recorded Future to the competitive analysis tools, even if they have a somewhat different focus these days.

Hi,

I must say wiman is a really nice looking competitor to Instabridge. However, as a first time user there is one thing bothering me that prevents me from "unlocking " any networks myself: it is not clear what unlocking means. If I press unlock, does it mean anyone can use it, or can I limit access to friends? Are passwords revealed? Can I lock it again? Please add some explanation in the app, and I will start unlockin when appropriate.

Thanks for the explanation. Sharing a network only to people I trust is one of the best features of Instabridge. However, their implementation makes it useless, since they base trust on contacts in the phone book and with made up user names that cannot be recognized by your friends. Of course trust should be based on existing social networks, like G+ or Facebook. Please add this feature.

Hi,

I recently wrote a paper using ShareLatex and found it really good for collaborative writing. It is cloud version of Latex, so you don't have to mess with Latex setup, packages, git versioning etc. Please try it out by signing up using the below link, since it will upgrade my account so I can have multiple collaborators for free, hopefully you.

Online LaTeX editor for collaborative editing, great for Maths or Sciences. You don't need to install LaTeX so it's great for beginners too.

Sure, they have all the right single origins and Kalita filters, but when you ask for it they never have time to actually brew it. I have been to several places like this, where they are too greedy or don't have staff that have the training to actually brew the good coffee they claim to have. If it is too expensive to brew, then set a correct price so that I as a customer can decide whether it is worth it or not. Also, for the price of a regular coffee here you get a proper Kalita or v60 at Uggla or Soldes.
