Here's my interview with artist & DC co-publisher Jim Lee during WonderCon. We talk about all things Batman, including the new batsuit design, what's coming in the future for Batman's 75th anniversary, and much more. Read on!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2014/04/22/interview-with-dcs-jim-lee-about-all-things-batman-at-wondercon/
VideoI spent last weekend at WonderCon in Anaheim, as many of you already know from my tweets from the event. One big highlight was DC's presence promoting the 75th anniversary of Batman. I met with artist-writer-editor extraordinaire DC Co-Publisher Jim Lee for a one-on-one discussion about Batman's past, his present, [...]

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2014/04/17/captain-america-tops-500-million-to-surpass-other-superhero-franchises/
VideoAs you know by now, Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier opened to a record-shattering $95 million domestic, while overseas it scored massive back-to-back weekends, bringing its worldwide total to $302 million in ten days. Here's my article today about how summer blockbuster season is about to change, due to the huge opening weekend for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER. Take a look!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2014/04/04/captain-america-turns-april-into-start-of-summer-blockbuster-season/
It's only Friday afternoon, but the evidence is already pretty clear. After pulling in more than $10 million from Thursday night screenings in North America, Marvel's newest superhero sequel Captain America: The Winter Soldier is headed for an opening weekend of around $90-100 million domestically, with a good shot at [...]

i agree. with this kind of success theres no reason for studios to start pumping blockbusters earlier in the year. i think audiences are ravenous for big entertainment amid gloomy weather and want an escape.

My new article at Forbes today, explaining why Marvel & DC won't be facing off in 2016 and why the studios don't actually want one another to fail...

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2014/03/26/batman-vs-superman-and-captain-america-3-wont-face-off-in-2016/
It's a rumble that has everyone salivating, the first true face-off between DC and Marvel since the superhero genre took control of cinema. Warner Bros. recently rescheduled their upcoming Man of Steel sequel (commonly referred to by the "placeholder" title Batman vs. Superman, but that could change soon) to release [...]

I read your article. You COULD be right. But I think Warner Brothers knew exactly what they were doing, when they moved to the May 6, 2016 date. Their movie will likely be finished and awaiting release by the time Captain America 3 even starts filming! I think the WB simply wants a summer release, and to not release it AFTER three Marvel films. At that point maybe the general audience will be superheroed out, by July 2016. Warner Brothers has less to lose and I don't think that they care about the opening weekend competition. A good movie with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, will make at least 700 million, regardless.

+Matches Malone Yeah, I agree. I'm curious what his thoughts are. You have a relatively unknown actress with not a lot of experience, playing a somewhat complicated and iconic superheroine. This was a great interview, a director's cut of Sucker Punch? "Bring It On" (pun intended)

How is Warner Bros.' JUSTICE LEAGUE project shaping up? Read on and find out!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2014/03/31/justice-league-movie-taking-shape-at-warner-bros/
As Batman and Superman prepare to don cowl and capes for the filming of the sequel to 2013's superhero blockbuster Man of Steel, Warner Bros. moves closer to finalizing their future plans for an extended DC Comics cinematic super-universe. Those plans have long been assumed to include a Justice League [...]

goddammit, +Mark Hughes ! You wrote an excellent piece that catches us up on the current state of DC movies and what we might see. Really covers all ongoing rumors and assumptions. However, I wouldn't want to see The Rock as Martian Manhunter. I see him more as a less serious figure. Anyway, there's not much I can add to what you wrote. Great coverage.

My review of CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is now live at Forbes, check it out and pass it on!

http://www.forbes.com/sites/markhughes/2014/03/21/review-captain-america-the-winter-soldier-takes-marvel-to-new-level/
"Don't bet against Marvel." That seems to be the best answer when it comes to any questions about what Marvel Studios is capable of accomplishing these days. Can they really build a vast cinematic world spanning many franchises? Can they turn lesser-known characters into global powerhouse franchises? Can they deliver great [...]
