The people at Schmohz are great -- you won't find any better. It's definitely a hole-in-the-wall off of Patterson Avenue north of 28th Street. But if you're looking for finely crafted brew, you won't find it here. With the plethora of excellent, handcrafted beer in West Michigan -- Perrin, HopCat, Founders, Rockford Brewing, Brewery Vivant -- this is not one to go out of your way to visit. But if you're in the neighborhood, stop in for a cold one.

Found myself in the possession of the 120 Non-alcoholic brew while on vacation. THIS is just what I've been looking for. I live in Kentucky so if there is any way to get it down here I would love it. This is a great IPA even for a N/A. I'll be stocking up from now on whenever I head up north.

Everyone should have a favorite neighborhood bar, Schmohz Brewery is mine. It has the advantage over all the other nearby bars of having really great beer - not your usual commercial stuff, great atmosphere - it is like drinking at your buddy's recroom, food selection (actually there is no food service, so you can get the food you like delivered to the Taproom!), and the prices are better than any in the SE suburbs. Add on that Schmohz is between work and home and you have a winning combination.

Really like Schmohz a great deal. Ok look, when you go in Schmohz there is indeed a note on the board, which suggests leaving a comment. It does not “ask” for a positive comment. I just really happen to like the place. My favorite is “Treasure Chest ESB” extra special bitter. Do not let the name fool you, this is not an over the top bitter beer. I also like their Octoberfest beer and Hopknocker. My wife is crazy for the Gingerbeer, called Zingersomethingorother. I don’t like it but to each his or her own. The point is that there is a wide variety and if you like mocro brews you WILL find something to like. Look, I like the beers from Shorts, Founders, New Holland, Schmohz and pretty much all micro-breweries. Schmohz offers me something that the other ones do not. The "feeling" inside the Biergarten is unique. You may have to go more than once or twice to get it. It feels like you just came in with your friends from snomobiling or skiing are sitting down to have a beer or two. There is nothing fancy about this place. If you are a fancy boy, you are more than welcome but you will probably not “get it”. You are not going to go here to pick up a co-ed, ok? It is a very accepting and non-competitive atmosphere. I also really like being able to bring in my own food. You are welcome to have a pizza delivered or grab something from Smokey bones, just a skip away, bring it in and drink a few beers. Or show up with a few pizza’s and have everyone else buy your beer. You would be an instant legend. It is a great place and getting better all the time.

My boyfriend and I decided to go visit a bunch of different breweries this weekend. As far as beer goes, Schmohz was my favorite. I'm no beer connoisseur, so a lot of the beers we tried this weekend all tasted the same to me. At Schmohz though, there were two in particular that were so unique and tasty--the Zingiberene Ale and the Pickle Tink Ale. Yum! I also enjoyed Amber Tease and Treasure Chest ESB. I usually always need a little something to munch on with my beer so the pretzels and popcorn were a nice bonus. I highly recommend you visit!
