Not for the technologically-fearful, but pretty awesome-sounding for the rest of us.

I don't always love Colbert, but some days he nails it. The portion from 1:20-2:00 is my favorite - I laughed out loud at the chart both times I watched it.
Job creators are like slot machines: if they're pumped with tax cuts, eventually they'll pay off.

I didn't immediately realize what the ability to search Google+ posts would mean, but it seems like a pretty important addition. A simple search of "democracy" just connected me with several interest posts, articles, and opinions that will be useful in my work. It will also help as I look for new people to follow and connect with. Well done, Google+.

Where is the place in the online community (Google+ or otherwise) where there are civil discussions between liberals and conservatives that don't immediately devolve into animosity? Is such a thing even possible? If so, sign me up, lead the way, or whatever. If not, we're screwed.

I understand and accept that it makes me a news snob to point this out, but while away for the past several days, it was through my Google+ contacts that I kept up with the developments in Norway, while my Facebook friends kept me fully posted on Amy Winehouse.

I'm just revisiting this... The point for me was that I was in a situation where I couldn't really actively seek the news and had to rely on my social networks to funnel what was most important. It is purely anecdotal and personal, but I found the traffic here to be much more relevant and interesting. Twitter may well do the same, but I never bought into it enough to find out.

He's writing in regard to Libya, but it's equally relevant as the results are announced from Tunisia's elections:

"That's the whole gamble of the Arab Spring, remember? (From the perspective of U.S. counterterrorism, at least.) That freedom, justice and dignity undermines al-Qaida by showing the world what mature Muslim democracy looks like? You can't suddenly jump off that train because you forgot for a second that you're supposed to be scaring people with threatening images of Scary Muslims.

I want every journalist to put this reminder over his or her desk: 'When I imply that al-Qaida is commensurate with mainstream Islam, it's like throwing a bucket of ice water on Usama bin Laden in hell.'"
I know Politico's Morning Defense newsletter gets written in the bleary-eyed predawn hours, but this had my head hurting while I walked my dog: THE NEW LIBYAN GOVERNMENT'S embrace of Islam is proving ...

"Remember Obama's core political skill: goading his enemies to self-destruct. It may be that the GOP's rejection of the Boehner proposal is that moment. And remember his constant ability to look completely on the ropes and pull something off. Probably wishful thinking at this point, but I can allow myself the audacity of hope sometimes, can't I?" -Andrew Sullivan

But wait, this can't be true, it doesn't fit the Republican narrative... I always knew math had a liberal bias.
