There's No Excuse for Making Excuses
Excuses are a dime a dozen. You can come up with all kinds of them to explain why you haven't been your best. You can blame the boss. You can blame the environment. You can blame your family. You can blame the clock (I just don't have time.) You can blame t...

Assume the Best
Have you noticed how humans tend to process difficult conversations and negative interactions, giving a play-by-play post-encounter analysis? Occasionally we process it up. Most of the time, we process it down.  We walk away and start stewing: "What did she...

The Anvil
Last eve I paused beside the blacksmith’s door, and heard the anvil ring the vesper chime; then looking in, I saw upon the floor, old hammers, worn with beating years of time. "How many anvils have you had,"  said I, "to wear and batter all these hammers so...

Is Following Jesus Hard or Easy?
“Only the one who follows the command of Jesus single-mindedly, and unresistingly lets his yoke rest upon him, finds his burden easy, and under its gentle pressure receives the power to persevere in the right way. The command of Jesus is hard, unutterably h...

Great thoughts Brad.  And I totally agree.  Discipleship must be intentionally reproducible -- and that means it must be something that an average person can do.

Mark, I finish reading your: Purple Fish" twice as I cannot get enough of your thoughts and ideas for evangelism. Awesome!!  I want to teach your ideas to our church but I need your help in doing so.  I would like to have this book put into a study guide format.  My email is jack.dehring@att.net

Recently we had a fellow elder at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Statesville, NC, walk out of our elders meeting in total anger over a decision that was made for a new worship service by our Pastor and approved by the attending elders.  The alter was enclosed with a veil like in the Bible and communion was not to be served until Maundy Thursday and the veil will be torn on Good Friday.

I was looking online using your name to find some new reading and came across your Blog the addresses this problem. Hope you don't mind, I copied this blog and sent it to this person.
