American comfort food institution that's cafeteria-style for breakfast & lunch, full-serve at night.- Google
"French Toast with banana and caramel is delicious!"
"Go here for brunch or lunch but go early-ish to try to avoid a very long line."

It is nice to see your breakfast made right in front of you, and you can tell the staff there know what they're doing. They've been doing it for a long time. The food is fresh, the menu's got enough variety, and the fresh-squeezed anything is awesome. I am totally FOR the seating policy, in which you order, pay, and get your food before being seated because it keeps everything moving and helps ensure those eating have somewhere to sit (tables aren't taken up by people waiting to order or waiting to get food or waiting to pay). That said, if you get here and the line goes to the very front of the restaurant, know it will take about an hour for you to actually order. The food, while tasty, is pretty standard breakfast fare. Is it that the other breakfast spots in Boston aren't very good? Not sure. As we were waiting and watching countless others eat, it was kind of a bummer to see how much food is wasted. It's not the restaurant's fault that people take only two bites out of the pile of three giant pancakes and leave most of a bowl of fresh fruit to be tossed.... but maybe they can make those pancakes a little smaller, is all I'm sayin'.

Best brunch ever!! Their seating system is unique and really works. French Toast with banana and caramel is delicious! Actually everything I've ordered here is 5 stars!! Favorite breakfast place!

Food was great. Lots of options - perhaps too many for this food fanatic who's on a budget. It was torture standing there in line watching all the delicious looking plates of waffles, pancakes, sandwiches, etc. stream by. It was even worse seeing people leaving half of dishes untouched. I was tempted to reach over and finish it off - no good food should go to waste! Down one star because the wait was long and the space is tight, which can be annoying as the staff is slamming dishes into the bins right behind you or trying to squeeze past you with a dirty cart.

I love this restaurant -- however, I prefer the South Boston location. This one gets very crowded and the wait is much longer. The food is the same in both locations (very good and fresh).

Awesome food, friendly staff. The seating policy was the best!! Completely packed on a Saturday morning, line out the door, and everyone that wanted a table, got a table. The experienced staff kept the food coming, the line moving and the tables cleaned. If you're in Boston and don't go to The Paramount, you're doing yourself an injustice.

Breakfast was pretty solid. Fair prices. Long line. Interesting seating policy but somehow it works well.

I have lived in seven cities including brunch havens DC and SF, this is the best brunch I've ever had. Came here all the time when I lived in Boston. If you live here and have never been, then you don't actually live here. Its a unique dining experience and the food is well worth the long wait. If you're touristing however, I don't recommend unless you are a foody and finding the best places to eat is important to you, just because the whole experience is so long! The set up of the restaurant is very unique though: you wait in line to order at the counter and then get a table when you get your food. It's sort of like an assembly line. Be prepared to wait an hour before you actually start eating, unless you get here before 10:30. The line is significantly shorter for meals that aren't brunch, and the food is good at every mealtime!

We went into the Paramount because a random stranger leaving the restaurant overheard us debating about where to eat and told us we had to go there because they had the best food on Charles St. I haven't tried everywhere on Charles St, but he was certainly right about the good food. I was impressed by the selection (including vegan and gluten free options). We stuck with good old staples and had the steak and black bean burger, that we both enjoyed thoroughly. The causal atmosphere of the restaurant also got major points.
