DK Donuts is super fun! The variety of donuts is huge, and of course they have the famous cronuts (known here as o-nuts). Amazing!! They also have wow-nuts made from waffles, but I was less impressed with those. And they have the obligatory coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Good stuff all around!

IN LOVE WITH THEIR O-NUT ICE CREAM SANDWICH!!!! I've never had an o-nut (croissant donut) before so I didn't know what to expect. When I came in and saw that I could add ice cream to anything, I was beyond thrilled! I LOVE ICE CREAM!!! What I Ordered - Ube O-Nut with Taro Ice Cream Mmmmmm....the Ube O-Nut was fresh, flaky, and delicious! The Taro Ice Cream was good as well! Only thing I didn't like was the ube cream frosting in the middle of the o-nut. Not sure if the frosting would taste better if I didn't add ice cream. It just seemed to be in the way as I was eating lol. I will be back! :D CASH ONLY

Best donuts I've found in Santa Monica - and I have done a fair amount of research. Old fashioned cake donuts are fantastic. Their O-Nuts are tasty and MASSIVE, I prefer the smaller bite sized ones filled with Nutella, you get the effect without the stomach ache. Ube donuts are tasty as well! Tried the waffle donuts once and was not a huge fan, but I feel like they're worth another shot. Cash only.

The minute thrillist LA released the location of LA's first cronut, thousands flocked to this unpretentious small donut stand. My coworker busted out of our office, called to make sure they had it and headed straight there. It looks like a normal donut store where police and old people frequent, not ones that would have trendy pastries like the cronut. I peeked my way inside and saw some hipsters standing in there and knew we were in the right place. They made the cronuts to order and once thrillist released that article, one of the girls who worked there said she hadn't stopped being on the phones taking orders. We got 3 flavors to share. At $5 each, this was def a splurge but OH, IT WAS WORTH IT!! I'm not a big fan of donuts, but this pastry incorporated the doughiness of a donut in the middle but the crisp flakiness of a croissant --& prob the cholesterol of both. 1. Nutella- def get this one. I haven't seen this flavor in any LA knockoff yet. I would say it's more of a hazelnut mousse than a nutella spread. 2. DK Cream- My favorite! I love the creamy custards that come in Asian pastries! 3. Strawberries and whipped cream- I imagined fresh strawberries but it's jellied/jammed strawberries. Not my cup of tea. We ate there and saw that a line started forming. and when we finished eating they were sold out!! Debated starting the cronut blackmarket here in LA with my half of cronut I had left, but it was too damn good that I just ate it all.

Honestly there's nothing novel about these donuts so I'm not sure why it's so popular. But the donuts are consistently great, soft, delicious, and cheap! Love picking these up for groups and parties.

This is the Southern California home of the cronut, the most glorious/fat desert of the decade! The cronut is soft and the layers make the donut seem to last forever as you try to gulf it down. The waiting times are sometimes long especially during the weekends, but if you can pick one up before the lines pick up do yourself a favor and pick it up. Just don't plan anything after because you'll soon be in a food coma.

I was at an event in Santa Monica and on our way back a friend suggested that we drop by DK's Donuts for the famous cronuts. Now I've heard all the raves about cronuts but it didn't tempt me enough to drive 45 mins to the west side to try these heavenly desserts. Although since we were already there I decided it was worth giving it a try. When we arrived there was already a line to the door. With our Yelp check-in they also give you 6 free donut holes with any purchase! At $5 a piece, the cronuts were quite pricey but I have to admit they are way more delicious than donuts. The texture is slightly crispy and flakey and it isn't too sweet. I had the house cream cronut which came with cream filling. I also sampled my friend's glazed cronut which was amazing as well. There was a total of around 6 different types of cronuts (each filled with cream or jam, glazed and another sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar). I'll probably come back again if I ever find myself in the area to satisfy my sweet tooth.

I came here with Dena O. and Crystal W. after checking out the Uniqlo pop-up at Santa Monica Place. DK's Donuts has a very unassuming storefront in a small plaza off of Santa Monica and 16th Street. Parking is somewhat limited but we were able to snag a spot right in front of the store! Once you walk in, you know you are somewhere special with their display cases full of donuts, cronuts, wownuts, and other delicious-looking pastries! They also offer burritos, sandwiches, smoothies, juices, etc... their menu is quite extensive! Of course right now the big fad is wownuts, which are a waffle-donut hybrid. DK's offers four waffle types (original butter, ube, red velvet, and chocolate) and you can either choose your own coating and toppings or pick an established combo from their set menu. And of course there are also DK's famous cronuts, which they just call O-Nuts. It seems (from their website) that they have about 25 different flavours. Yum! There were so many choices that it took quite a while for the three of us to decide what we each wanted to order. But I finally ordered the following: MINI DK'S ORIGINAL WOW-NUT with cream cheese frosting and Oreo crumbles -- Mmm texture of a waffle but somehow made even better! This came out piping warm and it was quite good (but also a bit plain). MINI RED VELVET LUST WOWNUT with cream cheese frosting and Oreo crumbles -- OMG this was THE. ABSOLUTE. BEST. I don't even know what to say about this. If you love red velvet and waffles and doughnuts, then this is for you. Absolutely! MAPLE BACON BLISS O-NUT: Taking our signature "Maple Bacon Bliss Bar" and turning it O-Nuts style; a crispy croissant dough with sweet maple topped with baked bacon to turn your taste buds both sweet and savory. -- So... I might be completely over the maple bacon combination when it comes to doughnuts/cronuts. This was just okay; I liked the cronut base but I'm no longer infatuated with this flavour combination. COOKIE MONSTER CRUNCH O-NUT: One of our newest additions to the #ONUT family. Cookie spread with a piece of chocolate chip cookie in the center. -- Now this one I am a fan of! I love cookie spread and cookies so adding those to a wonderfully flaky cronut made perfect sense. The red velvet wownut is still my favourite from DK's, but this was a pretty good cronut too. I'm so glad DK's offers mini versions of their wownuts. It was the perfect size for me and I didn't feel overwhelmed by the richness. We were hungry so we immediately devoured the mini wownuts on the bench outside of DK's (they offer a few tables inside but they were all taken) and then saved the cronuts to eat at home. I wish this place was closer to me so I could go back and get some more mini wownuts! That red velvet one was so good :D I also cannot complete my review without mentioning the service here. There were a few people behind the counter dealing with customers when I was there, and of course they were all professional and helpful but also not too friendly because they were swamped with customers and orders and whatnot. But the owner's daughter, Mayly, was there and she was extremely friendly and helpful! She was so patient with us as we figured out what we wanted to order, and then later when I asked why they no longer offer the Yelp check-in offer for complimentary doughnut holes, she kindly explained how all these rude customers were taking advantage of the offer (just coming in for the doughnut holes without buying anything, and then leaving negative reviews). It saddens me whenever I hear of Yelpers abusing the system, but thankfully she had not lost faith in all Yelpers and gave us a bag of doughnuts holes (which were delicious of course) on the house. Thank you Mayly for being such a kind sweet person! Your service has elevated my time here to a five-star experience :)
