Cloudflare, a service that helps optimize the security and performance of more than 5.5 million websites, warned customers today that a recently fixed software bug exposed a range of sensitive information that could have included passwords and cookies and tokens used to authenticate users.

All of that negative press may translate into hundreds of millions of dollars being cut from Yahoo’s pending deal to be acquired by Verizon. Bloomberg reported last Wednesday that the two companies were close reaching a renegotiated deal that would lower the price of the core Yahoo business from $4.8 billion to about $4.55 billion — a $250 million dollar discount.

The damaged infrastructure brought down the county website and caused problems in the county dispatch center.
