The PRSA Counselors to Higher Education (CHE) Section is hosting a Google Hangout on Air with university chief executive officers on January 21 at 2 p.m. ET. Other time zones: 1 p.m. CT | 12 p.m. MT | 11 a.m. PT
Once upon a time, higher ed presidents distrusted social media. But no more. Presidents are using social media to amplify their voices and to engage with constituents by sharing their ideas with leading journalists on Twitter, gaining followers among students and parents on Facebook, and posting selfies with influential alumni on Instagram.
Using Dan Zaiontz’s book # Follow The Leader: Lessons in Social Media Success from # HigherEd CEOs as a stepping off point, the conversation will focus on presidents and chief executive officers who are breaking this communications barrier as they continue having considerable social media wins. Join the conversation, ask questions, and discover how you can encourage and support your chief executive’s use of social media to further your school’s mission and goals.
Panelists will include Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin, University of Missouri-Columbia; President Santa J. Ono, University of Cincinnati; President Elizabeth J. Stroble, Webster University; and Professor and Author Dan Zaiontz, Seneca College. PRSA CHE Chair Joseph A. Brennan, APR, vice president for strategic communication at The University of Iowa, will host the event.
