Thought Tom would get a kick out of this -- regardless of most of them shooting it incredibly poorly.

"The .577 Tyrannosaur or .577 T-Rex (14.9×76mm) is a very large and extremely powerful rifle cartridge developed by American A-Square in 1993 for professional guides that escort clients hunting dangerous game. The cartridge is designed for use in "stopping rifles": A rifle intended to stop the charge of dangerous game. The 577 contains a .585-inch (14.9 mm) diameter 750-grain (49 g) Monolithic Solid Projectile which when fired moves at 2,460 ft/s (750 m/s) producing 10,180 foot-pounds force (13,800 J) of muzzle energy."

Santa appears to be more relevant than God in this chart. I knew Rudolph was trying to make me kneel when he kicked me last year, but it has taken this long to figure out why. This needs to be distributed to all children at all nativity scenes nationwide so they do not end up offending Santa like I did and getting kicked by a reindeer because of it.

"However, I continue to try and I continue, indefatigably, to reach out. There's no way I can single-handedly save the world, or, perhaps even make a perceptible difference.. but how ashamed I would be to let a day pass without making one more effort."

- Isaac Asimov, 'The Relativity of Wrong'

I'm sappy. I love a good cover band -- to wit just saw an amazing Micheal Jackson cover Friday night at an awesome little venue in Denver called the Gothic.

That being said, this is probably my favorite cover at the moment -- it's Walk off the Earth with an unusual arrangement of a popular Adele song.

This is really interesting stuff.

We worked on facial recognition using the kinect for a bit to determine who was in the room, and be able to setup something like a lighting profile, music, or even the display from the guide on television... but honestly the resolution caused lots of accuracy issues when you had lots of faces.

This goes one giant step beyond and allows for an image to be converted into a 3d counterpart for potential printing.
Algorithms exploiting light’s polarization boost resolution of commercial depth sensors 1,000-fold.
