Technical question: a client just sent this to me:

"We just found that the <lastmod> date in our sitemap is hardcoded for 2008-03-18 - I assume that’s a bad thing. How should this be handled? Hard coded for a new date and updated manually? Or updated automatically using some tool?

Also, what should the priority and change frequency be for a blog."

This client has a homegrown CMS. Can anyone chime in with their recommendations?

Advice requested from other pros: 

I just worked with a consulting/coaching client in a very specific niche who really wanted to me to confirm/guarantee a traffic increase of qualified leads on her site (not just traffic but leads and conversions) after our engagement. She put together the following goals/metrics and was upset that I couldn't guarantee this would happen:

• 9/30/15 – 10 visitors per day via Google
• 10/30/15 – 15 visitors per day via Google
• 11/30/15 – 20 visitors per day via Google
• 12/30/15 – 25 visitors per day via Google

I told her the only metric I wanted her to pay attention to now was creating a timeline and EXECUTION of the plan we put together. While I think her numbers are realistic, I've learned that it's just plain dangerous to guarantee anything. (Especially when dependent on business owner implementation!) Was I being overly cautious, or did I take the right approach?
