Short Version: I drove 3 hours round trip to attend, was refused service, and my pre-payment has not been refunded. Long Version: I decided to go to Infinity Aerial simply because it offers the cheapest pole class in Columbus. I did not, however, read the Google and Yelp reviews. I wish I had. I reviewed the description for the Pole Beginner/Intermediate class, which reads "In this 1hr class mixed level class we'll focus on learning tricks, climbing, inverting, sequences and combos. Each class students will be challenged at their individual pace to build strength, flow, endurance and flexibility” and now concludes with the following statement in bold: "Must have down your basis two-handed spins and beginning climb prep.” I ignored the obvious grammatical errors and decided to register and pre-pay for this class online. Having attended a pole class before, I knew myself to be capable of spinning and climbing. I then made a 90 minute drive to Columbus to attend. Upon my arrival, the owner asked if I had been to a pole class before. I told her, "Yes,one.” Immediately, she replied she wouldn’t let me take the class because I needed to be able to climb. I informed her that I could. “In one class?” she asked incredulously. She then said I needed to be able do basic spins. I informed her that I could. “In one class?” she asked incredulously. “There are hundreds of basic spins.” The next justification she used was inverting. However, I have no problem with inverting, as I regularly practice yoga. Her reply to that was, “This is different because you’re holding on to something.” When asked what the point of the waiver was if I was going to be refused service because of things she wrongly assumed I could not do, she started to throw the word “ethically” around. She refused to let me stay for the class, not even offering to allow me to participate in the parts that I could. I have yet to receive an email about the refund she indicated she would process. (I’ll be reporting her to the Better Business Bureau). I hate to think something sinister was at work in her refusal of service. Therefore, I have to follow the George Constanza line of reasoning: This establishment is a front for a “cult” of some kind. For some reason, I was not up the standards of that cheaply carpeted and smelly room.

Response from the owner - 3 months ago
This customer signed up for a class she was not ready to take based on our class structure and for safety. We did email her almost 2hrs prior to the class to get her moved into the appropriate level of Pole 101 where she would learn to work on her fundamentals for strength, flexibility and technique building but she never contacted us back. As for refund the customers refund was processed the same day. The refund typically take 3-5 business days depending on her bank. This is not a cult at all our studio just strives to ensure learning at a safe pace and focusing on building technique not just teaching a bunch of tricks.

I've been taking aerial silk and pole classes at Infinity Aerial for a few months now and I love it. I've progressed incredibly fast for what I thought I was capable of. Valerie is an excellent teacher, she's extremely knowledgeable in the things she teaches and has a strong understanding of how to do them safely, which is really important when you're working in complex aerial arts like these. The classes are an excellent way to get fit and are super fun. I've brought a few of my friends to take classes at the studio and they love it too and have started taking regular classes. I would recommend Infinity Aerial to anyone!

I can't say enough amazing things about this place and what they have to offer everyone. The staff will keep working with you till you at your level and their encouragement is awesome! I always leave the studio sweaty and looking forward to my next class so I can learn more. They offer a ton of different classes and workshops, so there is something there for everyone. They also offer classes at all times of the day to fit any ones busy schedule, even my busy Mommy schedule. The great thing about the studio is that it is simple and their main focus is "You".

I have been going to infinity for just over 4 years now and cannot say enough good things about Val. I started with pole lessons and then moved to aerial. It is an incredible strength and toning workout. The friends and girls that attend classes are always supportive and make you feel completely comfortable and will cheer you on when trying new and difficult moves/combos. I look forward to my classes every week. Do not think I could continue running without the Flexibility class each week.

so much fun that you forget you're working out until the next day, but don't worry the soreness will remind you until next week! lol. Val is a great teacher and makes what could potentially be an awkward experience very fun.

Infinity Aerial is one of my favorite places to remove some stress from my life and improve my strength and flexibility while having fun with some fabulous people! Val is a fantastic instructor, personalizing the movements she teaches you in order to fit your level of fitness, as well as your personal style and preferences! She will, however, ask you to expand your comfort zone as you progress. :) I love that classes are not taught to a set formula, and they are never the same! Infinity is a fabulous place to learn!

I love this studio! I have been to several in Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati. The instruction Val gives is excellent. I never feel bored or pushed too far. I always feel safe, strength and proper technique are very important here. Even if I'm feeling down about my pole ability, going to visit Val changes that around and I accomplish things I didn't think I could. I have never felt uncomfortable at this studio, I'm a bigger gal and I never feel odd or singled out because of it. The culture and the teaching never make me feel out of place or like I can't do things. Even in skimpy shorts and a tank top, I don't feel self-conscious here; I feel more comfortable with my body when I leave than when I entered. It is one of the best gifts that could be given!

I've been taking classes at Infinity for about six months now, and its great! I'm really happy to have found the place, and met so many other fun people as well. As far as fitness goes, there's just nothing like it, its not easy, and you get your limits pushed, but its always in a safe and encouraging way. I mostly take the aerial classes, though I've also enjoyed a few of the kickboxing classes as well, and a bit of aerial yoga and flex as well. The class sizes are small, which is great, because it leads to personal attention and instruction that moves at your pace, you actually spend the class time working as well, unlike a lot of other studios, that cram half a dozen students per apparatus into a room and then spend half the time talking instead of letting you actually learn. This is the place to go if you want to learn, whether it is aerial, pole, acrobatics, or any of the other great stuff that is offered here! The prices are really reasonable, especially compared to a lot of other studios I've looked at. That, and you can either pay class to class, or get a membership. Class to class will let you check out a bit of anything you want (just be sure to sign up early! remember, small class sizes!) The membership saves you a bit of money, and is well worth it! I've had mine for months now and love going!
