I love this place. The bartender (whose name I always forget) is a great guy and they have a great beer selection. Food is above average as well. My go-to in Beacon Hill. In order of preference, I need 1) good beer, 2) good food, and 3) good atmosphere. For my money, this place is the best bar in Beacon Hill.

Super small portions of below average bar food. Worth the walk down the street to the Tip Tap Room.

Great service available with great eats for a kick back end to a long day. Grab a cold drink or frosty beer and forget about today and don't even think about tomorrow, You're not out of the TAVERN YET!

Your average bar. I had a killer pulled-pork sandwhich, but the atmosphere was pretty boring.

If you enjoy going to lunch, only to sit and wait 40+ minutes for your food to come out, then The Hill Tavern is the place for you! Had to ask the waitress to have our food wrapped to go before it even hit the table. As far as the food goes, it was sub par. I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wrap. The fries were soggy and the wrap was falling apart. For what I could eat of it, it wasn't awful, but also wasn't great. Perhaps they were understaffed and having a bad day, but they didn't seem to mind the fact that they had 10-15 customers, and everyone that we saw seated before us had been waiting just as long for their meals. Honestly, if you're completely desperate, can't walk another 20 feet to the next establishment, and don't mind waiting, then I guess you could get by eating at The Hill Tavern...

The tavern burger was amazing, and my server made a great suggestion for beer (Allagash white) despite his not being a beer drinker. I like that they have someone seating people, too, which I've never seen before for a tavern/pub

This place was a pleasent suprise. The Burger i had was well done and STILL JUICY. Its seems hard to do that at a restaraunt. The clam Chowder was pretty good also. Can't go wrong with this place. The service was good too. Id go back if i were in boston again. The bar seems to be a main attraction. 25 tap beers, craft and micro brews. Gotta love that.
