Waiting on the Solstice Sun

Up in the northwest fjords of Iceland, the roads end but the land keeps going.
There is this distant island, pictured here, that has no roads at all. It seems so remote and… well… scary. I don’t know why I get that foreboding sense! It just feels so lonely, so far north… the cliffs are so sheer… no one to hear you scream… and these sorts of things. I do like being remote, but this is a little too remote.
PS If you missed the Public Hangout tonight, we have a Live Broadcast one coming Thursday... watch the stream for more info!

"Gulf of Trieste"
This is the photo of the beautiful Trieste riviera I took last summer during my Europe trip. I really like Trieste for its beauty but at the same I find it is great strategic location when you travel to Europe. Staying in Trieste you can plan day trips to different locations of the region: Venice, Croatia, Slovenia, south of Germany and even Switzerland.

:: Sculpture
Anastasia Moraitou

Anastasia Moraitou is very famous name in Greece, in Art Galleryes and Societies. If i ever call her, that could be with the name of the Phoenix, because her art raised from the ashes as the Phoenix reborn.

Few years ago she had had very serious accident where her house caught on fire.
Normally in moments like this people fall in big despair and lost of hope, but not and Anastasia. She gathered every item and material she could use and she made brand new and very unique sculptures.
Here is her biography and short showcase of them.

Anastasia Moraitou was born and now lives in Thessaloniki, Greece. She has been painting ever since she can remember herself. As early as aged 13 she took part in a joint painting exhibition and was awarded 1st prize. While still in high school she had stage design lessons at the Malamas Theatre School.
After school she worked with the painter Sarafianos in Athens while at the same time she studied costume and fashion design at Veloudaki School where afterwards she also taught design until her admission to the School of Fine Arts.

During the dictatorship years she was in London and studied at the Ealing Polytechnic College. It was there that she had first individual painting exhibition which was great success. On returning to Greece she was professionally engaged in textile design.
In 1985 after a serious accident she had had, her artistic activity was interrupted for a whole 5 years.

Ever since then she has had 15 individual exhibitions of her art creations each one diverse in subject and content and always original in terms of form and matter. Pieces of her work are held in personal collections in Greece and abroad specifically in London and New York.
For her support in deed of the work done for cancer suffering children she was given an honorary award by ELPIDA Association of Friends of Children with Cancer on its 10th foundation anniversary in 2003.
Anastasia Moraitou is a highly estimated and renowned artist whole name is closely connected with optimism insofar as she proves in the long journey of life her firm belief in regeneration and never ending hope.

#WaterfallWednesday

Starting of the day with a contribution to #WaterfallWednesday curated by +Eric Leslie.

Frozen Athabasca Falls in Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada.

The Athabasca Falls are one of the main tourist attractions in Jasper National Park, which is located in the canadian Rocky Mountains in the Province of Alberta. While the falls are very (too) busy in the summer to even get close to them, they can be great in the winter when it is cold and less tourists visiting the area.

I think it is almost needless to say that Jasper National Park has many more attractions and waterfalls to offer but the Athabasca Falls are definitely one of those locations you can not miss. The waterfall is super easy to reach by car and the biggest challenge you may find in winter is a lot of snow or if you hit the "wrong day" you may still run into some tourists.

This picture is available as a free wallpaper on my website.
If you interested in more of my waterfall pictures...please check out my website too, I got many waterfalls there from around the world.
