Story
Introduction
I live in Nottingham.

I like biking with my dog, Yoshinkan Aikido, eating, cooking, reading, movies and thinking about eating.  I like gardening too, and I run an allotment.  Environmental concerns are important to me.

I'm interested in anything interesting, such as green tech, future uses of technology, philosophy, literature, political ideas, and general trivia.  Recently my reading has tended towards SF and speculative fiction as well as leftist political books and blogs.   I listen to lots of garage/punk type music, but generally I like anything that's good.

I am confused by youth fashions and music these days and I am only 29.  Actually, 30 now.
Bragging rights
I know that I am a good person because I pick up other people's dog turds.

I came to Aikido Shoshinkan as a complete beginner and was made to feel welcome immediately. One of the things which might put people off learning a martial art is a macho attitude from more experienced students, but I'm happy to report that I have never experienced anything like that at Shoshinkan. The club is remarkably inclusive - as is aikido more generally - and makes a point of being suitable for all ages, abilities, genders and body types. Your size and strength are not important here; what matters is your mental approach and attitude to learning with an open mind. If you're just looking to get strong and batter a punch bag this probably is not for you. I would urge anyone who is 'sitting on the fence' trying to muster the courage to try something new and challenging to come and at least say hello and talk to some of the students and Tadashi Sensei, our instructor. You will not be put under any pressure to sign a contract or hand over money, but you may well be intrigued by this graceful, challenging art taught by an excellent teacher with friendly, committed students.
