A lot of people were telling me this season that I'm a lucky guy working in a place like Santorini but the truth is that after a while you just stop noticing it.

You wake up late in the morning. You have your breakfast and you don't even want to open the window to enjoy partly this beauty because it is too bright outside. Going out for a swim? Only on those days when you don't feel really tired.

"How do you feel living in paradise?" is the most common of the questions I receive from guests in the restaurant I work. Although I have to admit that after a while watching my latest amateur photography tries, it is looking pretty special to me too.

Little info about the picture taken

Picture was taken very close to Kastro (Castle) area in Oia, Santorini exactly under the Red Bicycle Restaurant

Canon EOS 7D, Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM,
10mm, 4sec. (main-shot), f/13, ISO 100, 7 exposures

In my workflow I use Photomatix Pro 4.1 to create the HDR image. After that I imported the tone mapped image as well as the images with close to the main-shot exposure into Adobe Photoshop CS5.1. 20 minutes of masking and I get an image close to the one you see at the moment. I added two Topaz Adjust plug-in effects, Portrait Drama and Crisp but I kept only 10% of them into my final image. When I was done with all the masking, I imported the final result into Adobe Lightroom 3.3 where I actually created two images, one of which with some great building sharpness (of course the sky was also effected by it) and the other one with perfect noise reduction on the sky. Then I went back to Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 where I masked the sharp and the noiseless images to create this beautiful sunrise.
