When deciding how much to pay your kids, whether it’s a true allowance, or whether they are expected to do something to earn it, you need to figure out how much is appropriate to pay. Here are some things to keep in mind as you set your kids’ allowances.

I know, not the stuff you want to hear... but is Canada facing a massive real #estate bubble? Some say those fears are unfounded.

More than half a billion dollars sits unclaimed in forgotten bank accounts in Canada.

Last year the Bank of Canada returned $14 million to rightful owners - so it is possible you could be in for a very pleasant surprise.

Here’s how you can find out if you have an unclaimed balance: http://ow.ly/v64TQ

Even if you're on a #budget, you should still plan to have a well-stocked emergency kit in place.
I’ve been meaning to put together a home emergency kit for a long time, but bad weather finally pushed me to get it done. Here’s what’s in mine.

Introduction

Personal Bankruptcy Canada, Inc. CEO; Trustee in Bankruptcy at Personal Bankruptcy Canada; passionate about helping others find debt solutions

David Smith is the CEO & Co-Founder of Canada’s popular Bankruptcy Trustee and Information site; Personal Bankruptcy Canada.   The Personal Bankruptcy Canada site offers  free online resources and the ability for Canadians to reach out to Bankruptcy Trustees in their region. David originally got into this line of work because he is good with numbers, but discovered that as a trustee he could work with people one-on-one and make a positive difference in their lives.

David also participates at other sites on the Internet, offering information to help others understand bankruptcy and the many bankruptcy alternatives, such as consumer proposals, that are available to them.

Derek is the ‘real deal’ when it comes to helping people with debt issues. I have been doing business with him for several years and have no hesitation sending inquiries toward him. I know I have done the person a favor by putting them in touch with a professional who will weigh their individual situation carefully and provide the best possible advice. To top it off Derek is a decent guy with a big heart and I know from dealing with him that he really cares about his clients.

My company regularly recommend LC Taylor to people needing advice and help with debt issues. They are highly professional and compassionate in the way they deal with their clients. In all the years that I have been aware of their company I have only heard great things about the way they help ‘the unfortunate debtor’. I have no hesitation in recommending Leigh , Jillian and their team – because I know they are almost certainly the best resource someone with debt problems could find in Winnipeg

Dealing with financial difficulties can be a very stressful process – I should know I practice as a Trustee myself in Calgary AB. So it is really important that people are dealt with in a compassionate and professional manner. My company has been referring people to Sands - Trustees for quite some time now and we do that knowing we have done the best thing possible for them. I know they will receive highly accurate, well-thought-out advice and support at a crucial stage in their lives. My experience has been that sometimes we will have a crisis in our lives and most of the time if we keep our heads we can prevent that crisis from becoming a catastrophe. In all my dealings with Blair and his team I have found a group of people who can help their clients ‘keep their head’ and navigate their debt issues for the best possible outcome.

Providing accurate and appropriate advice to people experiencing severe debt issues is not an easy task. Ensuring that the best possible options are explored takes a careful analysis of a person’s situation and a deep knowledge of the Canadian Bankruptcy and Insolvency act. We have been doing business with Paddon and York for some time now and find their level of expertise impressive. They also demonstrate a sincere commitment to providing their clients the very best advice and support. I have no hesitation in recommending John and his wonderful team.

John and his team have been helping people solve their debt problems for many years. My company has been doing business with Adamson & Associates for a few of those years and have been extremely impressed with how they run their business. Their team has a deep knowledge of all the possible options open to someone dealing with sever debt issues. Another thing is that although they are Bankruptcy Trustees – they might actually be the best resource you will ever find that can help you avoid bankruptcy - should that be the best option for you.

My company has been sending professional referrals to Slocombe & Associates for a considerable amount of time and for good reason – in the Victoria region there isn’t another Trustee practice that we could trust so much. Garth has an awesome team of debt professionals. Everyone that we have had contact with has clearly demonstrated their wide knowledge and deep commitment to their clients . Navigating the Canadian Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act is a complex process but Garth has always impressed me with how he can interpret the ‘jargon’ to make it understandable for his clients. I recommend people to him all the time and know I have sent them in the right direction.
