When I started this November 1st, I never realized I'd make it this far. Like my novel wouldn't make it to 50k!

Now, the first Valanas Novel still has about 4-6 chapters to go before I start my revisions and tying everything back in with the changes my muse had me weave in as I wrote.

Here is looking to a successful "What Now?" Month advance to my first (and The first) Valanas novel: "Nightmare Trials"

Hello Googleverse! This year I, Christopher B. Lorando, will be moving to work through the first 50,000 words of my first Valanas novel while participating in this year's #NaNoWriMo.

Going on day 3, with 2000 words and a well of ideas that have yet to still hit paper it is an invigorating experience and I am excited to see what NaNoWriMo brings this year!

Hello FATE Community!

Question: Has anyone ever fiddled with using Aspects as Skill Modes?

My thinking is that it would operate somewhat along the lines of how Wildcard! skills work in GURPS, in that each player is given a collection of skills that are tied (in this case) an aspect representing a level of familiarity and specialty.

In any given situation where an action roll would be needed, the player decides on which aspects work best in the situation. The player decides which aspects get which bonuses, and likely have a +3 or higher bonus for the High Concept, and a choice of +2 and +1 bonuses to each the trouble and phase trio aspects (assuming phases are being used).

A player may select up to three Aspects in any exchange, with the player using the highest bonus of the three aspects, and each additional aspect after the first grants an additional +1 bonus to the roll as long as each of the Aspects are thematically appropriate to the action being rolled against and the desired outcome.

I am working on a FAE alternative for a story-based game I plan to run in the future and wanted to try removing skills and instead allow the aspects (and their facts/permissions) to take more of the focus. Ideally I want the players to decide and visualize a desired outcome and explain how their Aspects allow them to achieve the outcome.

Thoughts and reflections?

It is actions like this, compassion and understanding of what life can be that truly make a difference. This is the Superman I have come to know and love.
"For a true hero isn't measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart." - Zeus, Disney's "Hercules".

Some of you guys think that all Superman is is an over-muscled guy who only has super strength and laser vision, and that he only saves people by punching things... but there are other attributes that make one a true hero. Everyone says Batman is a greater hero, and I agree with them, but... never forget what Supes has done.

Today's post goes into detail of an adventure through a Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars: X-Wing skirmish with some of my close friends. Included are links to squad lists, news articles, and a snap-shot picture of one of the matches before things got really interesting.

Feel free to follow along and share your own fun experiences with the Star Wars: X-Wing game!

This post is atypical of my normal material, reflecting on the political topic of Homosexuality and what my personal views are in relation to it.

I encourage only those looking for a constructive and alternative view to have a look, as it is by every respect a TLDR post and may take some time to get through.

Either way, if you do get through it, I hope it provides a different viewpoint that I hope is not hostile or alienating in any respect.

A Love that Saved the World!
That is right, we did it. "Right... HOW did you do it though?" you may ask? Two years ago today, the infamous 12/21/12 was declared the day that would " End the World as We Know It " as mandated by predictions from a large number of iconic cataclysmically f...

Take the time to pull up, put the sound up, and make this full screen. It is an adventure through time into the future of things that could be, and the spirit of Human adventure, curiosity, and exploration. A true gem worth sharing to the masses!
