Hi All,
After countless requests from clients to create 'Nick Drake type String Arrangements' for their songs and soundtracks, I've started a series of articles looking closely at some of the techniques used and why they work so well. I hope this is of interest and help to others. Here is part 1 - part 2 will be posted up on the blog in the next couple of days.  Cheers, Vaughan

Hi, a quick introduction - I'm a string arranger / orchestrator and run a small professional session string ensemble based in London. We frequently collaborate online and add string parts to all kinds of tracks in all genres - whether it's a solo fiddle, string quartet or larger section - we can also undertake accurate overdubbing to sound like a larger section (this is ideal for clients on restricted budgets or using smaller studios). I'm happy to contribute by answering questions on orchestration or writing for strings, any aspect of recording strings and can suggest ways to get the maximum impact from using real strings in the studio.  I also maintain a blog with tips for string arranging and recording which might be helpful:
Best wishes, Vaughan
