Today's Walk on Winter Hill
A lovely sunny afternoon's stroll on Winter Hill. Started from Wilderswood on George Lane and walked up onto the Winter Hill road, then followed the road up to the telecommunications masts. From th...

Went to Bolton Market this morning to buy a month's supply of meat and bones for the dogs. I got them pigs heart, pigs ribs, pigs ears, pork belly, some rabbits and some beef hearts. Here's a video of Brett and Molly eating a pigs ear each after I got back. I couldn'r get Sam as he took his to the top of the stairs.

Panorama During a Walk on Darwen Moor
One of the best walks I've had this year, brisk breeze but not cold and the moor wasn't too boggy.
Distance: 4.31 miles
Time:3hr 12min
Overall av spd: 1.3mph
Walking spd: 1.9mph.
Not fast by most folk's standards but plenty good enough for me, and the enjoyment quotient was close to max.

Wilderswood to Winter Hill
Sunshine and showers is what the weather lady said, sunshine and horizontal hailstones is what we got on this afternoon's VERY short walk from Wilderswood up onto Winter Hill then over to Holdens Plantation before scuttling back to the car. Less than two miles, and some of the 1hr 24min was spent trying to shelter from the worst of the hail before beating a bedraggled retreat to warmer places (ie: my car and then home ;-).

Another Walk on Darwen Moor
Well that was an interesting 5 miles; found two paths I hadn't been on before and got a liberal helping of transient hypoglycemia (that's temporary low blood sugar for the non-technically minded - or hunger knock aka "bonk" for the cyling fraternity) with two miles still to get back to the car. At one point I even thought I was in the wrong woods (turns out I was just on the wrong path), fortunately it passed off after about 10min but it made for interesting navigation through Roddlesworth Woods. And the moral of the story is: take some emergency food with me.

Rambling Man with a Camera and Three Dogs
Introduction
I live in the northwest of the United Kingdom in a little town called Horwich. It's in an area known as the West Pennine Moors, which makes it an excellent town for me and my three dogs to live. Why? Well I like walking and there's plenty of that available around here. With all the moors, reservoirs, rivers, woodland and meadows there's lots to see and plenty of room for my dogs to charge around. I also enjoy photography and that's a hobby I can indulge on my walks.

If you want a photoshoot in pleasant, relaxed surroundings, the The Pump House in Horwich is an excellent place to go and John Bentley is the man to provide a great photographic experience. He did a photoshoot with my three Border Collies that was great fun for them and me, and the images that John produced were stunning and that capture the characters of my dogs.
