SYDNEY ART LOVERS
Michael Knight's 9th solo exhibition opens in the brand new Burwood Gallery, 24 Burleigh St, Burwood at 6pm tonight. Love to see some Googleplussers venture out. I'm still in Melbourne minding our daughter so if you get there say hello and tell him social media is worth the effort! - Lara :-)

Sending some landscapes out onto YouTube. Enjoy some Australian colour and sunshine. Thanks to Kevin MacLeod from www.incompetech.com for the music (great cheap resource for other creatives needing music for projects).

If you are planning a trip to Australia this farm-stay accommodation in Western Australia is pretty unique. Friends of ours have just finished it.

The very first entry on The Junk Map! Check out this beautiful shearing shed conversion in Western Australia.

Haven't read it Lynn but I imagine a bunch of musicians and artists in the 60's and 70's would have kicked up their heels a bit! - Lara

Cezanne is one of Mike's favourite artists so this museum In Philadelphia will be on our bucket list. Art critic Blake Gopnik takes a look at the collection in more depth at http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2012/05/18/new-barnes-museum-s-decision-to-hang-art-as-benefactor-desired-frees-viewers.html
(View the video on page 2 for a better look at Barnes' unusual approach to hanging his collection.)

To look at images of some of the famous works in the collection view the link below.

Introduction
Welcome. Short explanation because the page vs profile thing is a bit complicated. The main editor on this business page is +Lara Bartlam, Michael's partner. This is our first year of promoting Michael's work on a broader scale (it used to be exhibition only to a very local audience) and we are loving interacting with a supportive online community.

All feedback and comments on the page are much appreciated. Replies are often from both of us but where a comment is my personal opinion I will add my name.

Michael is currently living and working in Melbourne, but sorely misses his shark-dodging morning swims at Cottesloe Beach in his home town of Perth, Western Australia.

His professional career has spanned nearly 20 years, proving genuine creativity and hard work can still compete in a changeable contemporary art market, and we hope to increase recognition for his work further afield over the next few years. His 8th solo exhibition opened in Melbourne and Sydney in 2010.

WORK IN PROGRESS
Michael is currently working on a small landscape body and a larger conceptual series, his first abstract works in over 5 years.

"The contrasts in human interactions and experiences in a city like Melbourne interest me. Life's hopes, ambitions, failures, obligations, emotional blockages, postures and gestures are all on display, and these abstract characters are an intuitive response to my observations."

EDUCATION
1996 - Diploma of Fine Arts, Julian Ashton Art School, Sydney
1996 - Tom Bass Sculpture School, Sydney
1991 - Bachelor of Arts, University of Western Australia
