Looking forward to when we open on 1 April, for this year's exhibition in the hall, we will be using unseen photographs and original uniforms, alongside historic documents, to tell the personal experiences and colourful stories of the people who have helped to keep this great house running over the last 200 years to the present day. Here's Surridge the Butler, with the 3rd Earl, carving the turkey for Christmas in 1940.

Last week saw the official launch of Holkham: The Social, Architectural and Landscape History of a Great English Country House. Written by Holkham's Archivist, Christine Hiskey, the book offers a comprehensive history of Holkham and will be an interesting read to those who have visited (and to those who are yet to visit) Holkham and would like to find out more. The book is available in our Gift Shop. More information can be found on the Unicorn Press website http://bit.ly/holkhambook

Holkham has been cited as a leading example of rural enterprise by key speaker William Kendall at today’s CLA Rural Business Conference in Westminster. The conference will be discussing practical ways in which the vision of a robust, productive and sustainable rural economy in 2030 can be achieved. Holkham Studios, our latest project, features on the big screen.
