Like most volcanic craters that have small lakes within its boundaries, Hnausapollur is a maar, formed and erupted about 11 thousand years ago. Usually, the reason for the lake within the crater is the depth of the that goes down to subsoil water or ground water. This combination of water, crater, and vegetated brims is usually a beautiful sight where colors interact fabulously.

Although nothing but, this beautiful maar or volcanic crater bears the name ugly as a name. Ljótipollur translated means ugly puddle or ugly pound. But most craters that have lakes within them are exceptionally scenic and photogenic. Ljótipollur is no exception with its read and vegetated slopes and visible lava layers at the brim. Maars are usually quite deep as the water originates in ground water below and do not have any creeks into or out of the lake, only underground. Most often craters with small lakes have this beautiful turkish blue lake which gives the crater an enhance value for photographers. All such craters are great attractions for photographers.

Rauðfeldur and Sölvi came with their father Þorkell, the half brother of Bárður Snæfellsás who was half man half troll to Iceland as children and lived at Arnarstapi. They often played with Bárðurs many beautiful daughters. One day they lured one of the girls Helga out to an iceberg in an innocent game and pushed her on the iceberg out to the open Ocean. Unfortunately, high winds blew the iceberg quickly from shore and out to the open sea, and she disappeared. The news of her fate and journey on the ice never reached her father as communication were different at that time. In everyone's mind, she was lost and deceased. Apparently, as the story in the Saga Bárðar Saga Snæfellsás, she reached Greenland seven days later and lived a good live with the family of Erik the Red, father of Leif the Lucky, for many years.

Hólmsárgljúfur is a small but beautiful canyon in the river Hólmsá. The river originates in the small glacier Torfajökull in the Highland and finds its way through a large lagoon in the Syðri Fjallabak area, Hólmsárlón, flowing through the beautiful landscape of Brytalækir all the way to the river Kúðafljót near the Ring Road.

Spring has arrived early in Iceland. April is not always part of spring but more often part of winter, but the weather can change all that. At least in the minds and heads of Icelanders. We at Hit Iceland are always touring around the country and took a day trip to Þórsmörk yesterday on Good Friday. To our surprise, we discovered that there is almost no snow in this beloved oasis in the Icelandic Highland. And if the weather continues to stay warm, Þórsmörk might be blooming in May making the summer quite long and beautiful.

Herðubreið is a tuya and also the queen of Icelandic mountains. The mountain is considered by many Icelanders to be the most beautiful mountain in the country. Herðubreið rises 1677 meter up from Ódáðahraun lava desert and stands alone without any competition from other mountains and can, therefore, as a queen deserves, proudly express her dignity from any angel.

Wild whales in their natural place in the world.
The trip was a three-hour sailing on the boat with the friendly name Bjössi Sör. Just minutes after our guide had warned us, that it was always a possibility that we would not see any animals because in the wild you can not manipulate the scenario like you would in a zoo, we spotted two Humpbacks. And this was only thirty minutes into our trip. Our captain slowed the boat down, and we watched the beautiful animals swimming and waving their tails. Suddenly and literally out of the blue, one of them suddenly breached. What a sight! A whale that weighs over 30 tons and is about 15 meters long jumping out of the water and splashing on the surface, what a sight!
