Those Ivories. Non-knitting Post
Warning:  This post has no pretty pictures of yarn, and is totally self-involved b.s.  reflections. Though I rarely mention it, ivories (piano keys) and ebonies (organ keys) are as intertwined in my life as eating, sleeping, knitting, relationships, and bod...

Socks... Stripes!
Looking back at a previous blog post, I wrote:  "Next: Stripey Socks". And here they are. Of course, I don't NEED more sock yarn, but this tangled me up and threw me to the ground, so I bought it... In the little city of Steinkjer, Norway, I found myself in...

Almost… finished, second try, second knitter...
A pullover with hood has been on my Ravelry page since last summer, and it proudly is described as C's project, not mine!  Six months later, I arrive for a visit and now it's mine.  I'm a finisher, that's for sure.  In fact, I detest unfinished projects.  S...

Travel with knitting! I don't know why I'm allowed to take knitting on flights, but it makes me a better traveler! And a tip: Take dental floss in case you need a yarn or thread cutter!

The Mystery Knitter
Remember my story from a week ago?   HERE  The person I taught to take the first steps of knitting...she impressed some others, too, though she hasn't had a minute to sit and relax.  She's moving this week, and all that that entails... sales, discarding, so...

A Lesson Learned?
Five years ago I knitted an excruciatingly complex shawl.  "Europa" Crescent...tiny needles, lace weight yarn, nupps, double decreases, you name it... it's all there!  And I loved that shawl... even though I wore it mostly bunched up around my neck under a ...

North Land
A knit fest without the necessary yarn!  Yes, dear friends, I knitted feverishly on my little girl's pullover and halfway up the hood I ran out of yarn.  So I'm on hold until a return to Bergen in two days.  It's looking fine! The sun shines on the mountain...

Cranking them out...
A sudden panic:  Nothing for Rowena... And I have to have something for Sunday.  That's the last day I will see her this year.  And in previous years she's received fingerless mitts, a hat, and a "spa" cloth.  We've been having a cold snap here, so: Mittens...

Ponchos - Who's for and who's against?
Am I a child of the 70's?  Yes, and no.  I date back farther...  really a child of the 60's, or 50's.  That makes me want to revolt when I see styles from those decades.  (Remember, Pattie?  In early 2000's I said I would NEVER wear "clam diggers"... and I'...

Great sushi! Very happy that we have a reasonable place for sushi. I always get a specialty roll and Thai iced-tea. Always satisfied!
