Rick Timmis talks about implementing GNU/Linux as an enterprise wide solution, and how to go from data servers to desktop, make it work and have your users love it.

The Summer is upon ( We Hope ) and it's time for Exeter LUG to take some well earned time off. So in good traditional manner we'll be adjourning to The Village Inn across the road and using the Beer Garden and BBQ for a Bar Camp n BBQ.

Of course that no excuse not to talk tech, bring tech and We'll have Bangers and Burgers in Rolls and Buns, and of course the Bar will be open.

Remember we WILL STILL be utilising Google+ Hangouts, ( But you'll really want to be there to taste the Beer ) so that anyone who wants to attend the meeting but can not get there will be able to join us via G+ Hangouts, find out more and add Exeter LUG to your circles if you want to use this feature.

Want to get started programming in C ?

Well it's not as difficult as you might think, and at this months meeting we're going to get down to building on the work of our previous event on programming in the C language. With additional example slides, Q & A, and supporting YouTube material we'll be looking at writing, compiling a command line accessible C program. We'll be focusing on accepting so simple command line arguments, processing them with a simple function. The end result, will be a simple command line calculator that can add, subtract, divide and multiply integers.

IMPORTANT: You'll need to hang on your nice, new shiny calculator.o file for use in our future event on Rapid Application Development with Quickly

Details, and links to Slides and Scripts on GitHub all all posted to our website in the Past Events section

How do I join the hangout,  can't find a lonk on this page :(

Just a fantastic evening learning about #programming in #C Thanks to those that arrived in person, and great to see a busy G+ Hangout. Next month we'll be going deeper into C as we build a kernel for the Raspberry Pi

Hope to see you then.

PS please help us by spreading the word about our events far and wide.

In this event Malcolm will be taking us through the process of configuring and compiling your own Linux kernel.. But wait there is more.... This isn't just compiling any old kernel.

We'll be cross compiling a kernel for the Raspberry Pi, and installing it onto your device. This means you'll need to bring a few things for this event.

    Your Laptop PC
    A Short Network Cable
Raspberry Pi ( The LUG has two that can be borrowed )
Power supply for your Pi ( preferably a USB connector from your laptop )
