People talk about out of body runs. This one felt like I was running in two different people's bodies and so, writing it, I took myself out of first person. Weird.

Health advise and information is overwhelming. What to eat, what not to eat, it's all a huge question mark. Here's something simple to remember: a calorie is not a calorie and sugar is no good for us.

Toni Morrison has a piece in The New Yorker about a job she had as a child and the message her father taught her about it. It had me thinking about the huge difference between a job and work. The latter defines me, the former is a paycheck.

Yesterday, a kid beginning day two of his English final said that two pages of it were missing. I looked for the pages but couldn't find them. He went pretty much ballistic after that. He's an eighth grader and has a lot to learn. Today, we found the missing pages and I wrote this letter to, as I'm calling him, Frank:
