If you come here, be prepared to eat for at least 3 hours. My friends came for a set menu and ate for about 4 hours. I went with them again a few weeks later and opted to just order off the menu, since we figured it would be faster. Nope! Every dish took forever. Overall it wasn't too memorable, but I do remember the duck basteeya being really tasty.

This may feel ok for most newbies but this has nothing to do with moroccan cuisine. Just ask moroccan people and they will tell you. I understand the chef's approach to play with the ingredients and make different weird expensive dishes, but moroccan cuisine is all about its true original recipees. Don't be fooled

I'm a picky eater, so when I originally was scoping around for restaurants for dinner for my one-year anniversary, I was looking at every restaurant's tasting menu to see how I would like the items, but Aziza actually didn't have their tasting menu online at the time. I liked their a la carte items a lot, and never had Moroccan food, so I decided to take a plunge and book a reservation here. While most Michelin-starred restaurants in SF require you to book out a month or more in advance, I was able to book a reservation for here over OpenTable on a Saturday night only 2 weeks prior, so I was really happy with that! It also seemed like there were a few other time slots open around mine, so it doesn't seem that competitive to book a reservation here (the restaurant is also pretty big, which may be another reason why). I arrived at the restaurant a little before my reservation time, and they seated me and my girlfriend pretty promptly. I was pretty set on ordering the tasting menu, but being a picky eater, I first had the waitress run the menu over with me first, to see if I could substitute any of the dishes on the menu that I'd rather not eat. I ended up substituting one dish pretty easily. The tasting menu ended up taking three hours (8PM-11PM) and costing $115 per person, and when we finished, we were one of the two parties still eating in our room of the restaurant. Overall, I was really impressed with the food and presentation (unfortunately Google reviews doesn't let me upload photos or else I would). I've never eaten at a Michelin-star restaurant prior to this, but I was definitely impressed, even coming in with pretty high expectations! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone! If you're not interested in the tasting menu, the tables next to me had dishes that looked very good, and it would be about $30-$60 per person if you ordered the single dishes (excluding drinks, which are $10/cocktail).

This is hands down one of our favorite restaurants in SF. The food is AMAZING. The cocktails are AMAZING. Amongst the Michelin rated restaurants we've been to, this has been the least stuffy. If you want to take someone somewhere special, choose Aziza!!!

My first Michelin star experience! I thought my meal was pretty good, but I wouldn't necessarily frequent this restaurant often. Walking in is like entering Aladdin's palace: you are immersed into the Mediterranean/Moroccan environment with the cool colors, drapes, and plush pillows. However, everyone is dressed very nicely maintaining an upscale feel. This is definitely a place for a date. My friends and I were seated in a side room with a cool stained glass window. Alcohol: They have a lot of interesting exotic flavors and options for each kind of alcohol. I had a gin with orange juice, coconut water, and basil seeds. Very refreshing. Appetizer: spread - the bread that accompanied the dips was amazing! The seasoning was really good and it was grilled to perfection. Otherwise the spreads were just okay, they had three different flavors, one tasted kind of like peanuts, the other like yogurt, and the other like pepper. Entree: duck confit basteeya. I've never tried French/Moroccan fusion so I was excited to eat this dish! The meat was nice and savory and the pastry was flaky. Overall I thought my dish was too dry. My friend ordered beef cheeks and I didn't like the flavor/texture of her dish at all. The best was my other friend's lamb chop, the meat fell right off the bone and was flavorful and juicy. Desserts: I shared a lavendar/lemon dish that looked nice but wasn't very memorable. My other friend ordered the raspberry sorbet but I was not since I don't care for goat cheese and it covered the entire plate. Most of the food here is really rich and I wish my meal were more balanced. But I did enjoy the ambiance and think this would be a great place for a date.

Victorious "Iron Chef America" chef-owner Mourad Lahlou "continues" to win over diners at his "upscale" Outer Richmond "oasis" proffering "exceptional", "refined" "modern" Moroccan à la carte and tasting menus elevated by "French techniques and California ingredients"; portions are "small" and he "isn't giving it away", but "innovative cocktails" and a "romantic" "casbah" setting with a "lovely accommodating staff" are "reasons enough to come"; P.S. closed Tuesday. I loved my meal at this place. Ambiance is dark and expansive... almost cavernous, but the ceilings are tall. My companion and I split the spreads, the asparagus, the chicken basteeya, and the lamb shank. The chicken was definitely my favorite: a light pastry surrounding a warm rich center with an interesting sweet-yet-savory flavor. The drinks were good too. I recommend the mango coconut kiwi chia gin: smooth on the start, sharp gin flavor on the finish. Well-priced for what you get.
