Introduction

The Pacific Community, known as SPC, is the Pacific region's principal technical and scientific organisation.SPC is an international organisation with 26 member countries and territories. The organisation works in public health, geoscience, agriculture, forestry, water resources, disaster management, fisheries, education, statistics, transport, energy, human rights, gender, youth and culture to help Pacific Island people achieve sustainable development.

SPC has more than 600 staff working in seven technical divisions, these are: Economic Development Division (EDD); Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Envrionment Division (FAME); Land resources Division (LRD); Public Health Division (PHD); Education, Training and Human Develoment Division (ETHD); Applied Geoscience and Technology Division (SOPAC); and the Statistics for Development Division (SDD).
